$75 fee:

-21+ days prior to departure is based on the departing city time zone, not the booking city time zone.

EDIT: I managed to call in and have them waive the fee when it was within 21 days in departing city time zone but not by booking city time zone

UPDATE: AA has removed all close-in fees

CMIIW but since AA allows holds on awards, you can never cancel without a fee (officially) at any time.

you are correct, rep just told me that there are no refunds on award reservations without a fee. (though she may not know what she's talking about, she sounded sleepy too..).
Thanks

It's 20k.
It's easier/faster to simply pull the chart and look it up yourself :)

You could google "AA award chart" and see how much it costs even without any current availability.

If I'm booked on one airline can I switch it to a different airline (keeping the same origin and destination) free of charge?

Wow. AA auto canceled a reservation of mine because they called it a duplicate reservation - by their estimation due to having the one, I couldn't possibly make the other. (I could, but it's reeeally close)

They are giving me a hard time about reinstating the reservation. I was not expecting it, and they cancelled the flight that I need. The flight they left does not work with the rest of the travel plans.

With United I've had multiple seats on the same flight and they don't cancel.

I'm in trouble if they won't do this for me.

Any ideas?
I remember when a coke was a nickel, and you could buy VRs in OD.

So get this: they gave it back to me, but only because the agent had spelled one passenger's name wrong on the original reservation, and that passenger didn't cancel.

But if not for that I was toast!

You can request that AA open up space on a domestic leg when booking an international award ticket.

Any recent success stories?

(want to know how many times I should HUCA before I give up :) )

I've tried twice recently to no avail (It's possible I wasn't pushy enough). I received flat denials each time.
