$75 fee:

-21+ days prior to departure is based on the departing city time zone, not the booking city time zone.

EDIT: I managed to call in and have them waive the fee when it was within 21 days in departing city time zone but not by booking city time zone

UPDATE: AA has removed all close-in fees

No. The $75 needs to be paid.

Would i have any luck emailing AA about getting a refund for a mispriced ticked (JFK-AUH-MLE they priced as two awards).

If yes, what would be the best email to send it to?

From my limited knowledge I believe it comes back immediately, if you allow it to expire it'll become available right after midnight and you can re-hold it then
IME it may take longer with EY (maybe has to do with midnight in their time zone etc), but you should see it on EY website by the next morning.

Award Calculation- If i were to use citi points to buy a $ ticket on AA how many miles per $? also will i earn CC miles or flying miles? If so it becomes a hard calculation...There should be a algorithm... TIA

I just called AA about my JFK-AUH-MLE flight.  I was charged as two awards 90k for F and 17.5k for the Y leg.

Y was the only thing open for my second leg and i do not believe they even fly F from AUH to MLE.

Per the AA partner award chart, it should be 90k all the way through to MLE. However, i was just told, the only way it will price as one way, is if flying the same class all the way through. Since i took a voluntary downgrade to Y, it prices as two awards, and even if i had J, since it is not the same class on both flights, it would be the same thing.

DROPR? Seems like she spoke to a couple of different departments.

DROPR.

I've had F and J on same itin and it priced as 1 award not 2.

So F to Y should not be any different.

IS there any department i can try and get in touch with that can help me more than CS. They kept putting me on hold to speak to people. Maybe if i can speak to someone directly...

I've booked J and Y as one itinerary (on different Airlines) with AA award and it priced as one.  The agent did need to note that it was a voluntary downgrade in order to issue the ticket (on partner airline). Maybe they failed to do that in your case.
The only other thing I can think of is that there is no F at all AUH - MLE, so the computer is not recognizing it as one itinerary.  But mixed cabin awards are par for the course.

With some help and encouragement from D93, it seems like i was able to get through to a rep and have them ticket (my flights weren't ticked yet) the routing at 90k.

Thanks for everyone's insight.

Awesome, happy to help :)

Please report back when it gets ticketed and how many miles were actually debited from your account.

You can be sure i'll have something to say if they deduct the wrong amount.

I'll post as soon as the email comes in.

My AA flights gave been ticketing in like 3-6 hours... Booked several over the last week. Do they prioritize ticketing based on status?

Big difference between AA flights and EY flights.
