$75 fee:

-21+ days prior to departure is based on the departing city time zone, not the booking city time zone.

EDIT: I managed to call in and have them waive the fee when it was within 21 days in departing city time zone but not by booking city time zone

UPDATE: AA has removed all close-in fees

If book a business class award can I upgrade it to first if it opens without paying any fees?

Thought so to but asked two phone reps today when I put a flight on hold, and they told me it's $150. Just want to make sure they're wrong before I ticket.

Any way I can check for saver availability for specific dates with no particular destination in mind. I need to book tix for my inlaws using AA miles for August 2-6 they aren't picky about where they go

IIRC kayak has a tool like this for paid flights. Never seen one for award tickets though.

If the only coach seats available for an AA flight are Main Extra, is there any chance that they will become available for points?

Side point, when you pay 20k points for an AAnytime award, you can choose that main extra seats... Can be worth it

I just reserved 4 tickets PHL to DUB and then back LHR to PHL using all miles. Taxes and carrier charges on the way in are $22.40, and the way back is showing up as over $1400. Anything I should be aware of before calling in? When I click on the link of the breakdown in charges, it's showing up that I should only be charged $5.60 per ticket.

Thanks!

The only way not to pay that is taking a short flight to somewhere out of England, and then go from there, but yes the YQ is very high out of LHR.

Its not YQ, its UK passenger duty. In addition LHR has high airport taxes.

Thanks, everyone. If I fly into LHR will I avoid the excess taxes and fees? If so, I can try and flip my itinerary.
