$75 fee:

-21+ days prior to departure is based on the departing city time zone, not the booking city time zone.

EDIT: I managed to call in and have them waive the fee when it was within 21 days in departing city time zone but not by booking city time zone

UPDATE: AA has removed all close-in fees

Thanks, everyone. If I fly into LHR will I avoid the excess taxes and fees? If so, I can try and flip my itinerary.
Yes

If using AA miles to fly J on a 2-cabin flight (let's say that existed on LAX-SYD), can you add a domestic F flight for free (like NYC-LAX) or does it have to be J as well?

Officially not. Why would you be able to? NYC-LAX is a 3 cabin plane with Y/J/F. A J redemption gets you J on that flight, not F.

Just checking, thanks. Good to know there's an officially in there :)

When NYC-LAX is first added to the end of AA's calendar, do they always start off with releasing just 1 seat each in F and J? Do they ever start with 2 each?

I think @jaywhy once said something about getting them to add a F segment to a J award sometimes. May have been in this thread, you can search.

Almost universally only 1.

Today I woke up and got a  email with a reservation under my FFN, and I had not made any reservations from my account.

I searched the details and saw that the flight was booked with 80k AAdvantage aanytime award showing booking class Y,
and it showed that there was 0 miles available from the account which it was redeemed from.

There were no miles deducted from my account, but I putpac AA just to confirm and the rep claimed that this ticket was a purchased ticked and mistakenly my FFN was added!

My question is: is aanytime considered like a revenue ticket in the AA system?

Any facts/experience is  appreciated. (Not thoughts or opinions please)

im asking moreso if there have been any problems that anyone has experienced, i.e. the person who booked it not being at check in or not having the card that is on file etc.

One is able to book tickets for others using his/her miles without issue, even though the account holder will not be travelling with them.  You simply need to enter their name and info in the Traveler section.

on that note, while slightly off topic, would 65k miles +$125 for one way tlv-nyc be a better value than ~$900 on aeroflot or similar?

21 Hours so far and Award hasn't ticketed. I don't see a pending charge on my CC yet, either. Worrisome or normal?
I remember when a coke was a nickel, and you could buy VRs in OD.
