$75 fee:

-21+ days prior to departure is based on the departing city time zone, not the booking city time zone.

EDIT: I managed to call in and have them waive the fee when it was within 21 days in departing city time zone but not by booking city time zone

UPDATE: AA has removed all close-in fees

Do we have to remind them? (like BA) or will they do it without asking?
Depends on the rep. (but there's a difference between AA and BA, with AA it's an official rule, so as soon as you remind the rep, they'll waive it, but with BA it's not an official rule.)

I just booked something a few weeks ago and I had no idea of the change in policy but the rep mentioned it on her own.

Does $239 for an infant LHR-JFK OW in Y make sense?

Is it correct that the redeposit fee for AA award would be $150?
(I can't find it on the AA website anywhere -- they just say subject to fee but don't give number -- but Lucky quoted this figure last year.)

Thanks.

Yes
Thanks.
So, here's the follow-up question:
I want to book MIA-BOS on 15May using 10,000 Avios in Economy, but no availability.
I could book in F using 40,000 Avios, and cancel (no penalty) even at last minute if Y becomes available.
Or, I could book in F using 22,500 AA miles, and then just forget about it (I wouldn't want to cancel, given the $150 penalty.)

What would you do? :-\

I would wait/book F with Avios and be ready to cancel. You still have a while until the flight, and from my experience, there tends to be a lot of movement with availability unless it's a holiday weekend.

Thanks. It's not a holiday weekend, so I think I will do that.

I have a flight for 2 pax tomorrow morning, and the seat map shows only two bad seats. I need to select seats of I want to check in online. What have people's experiences been if they get the seats assigned at the airport?

when u get to the counter, ask them to switch your seats they usually have more options and are willing to do it
