$75 fee:

-21+ days prior to departure is based on the departing city time zone, not the booking city time zone.

EDIT: I managed to call in and have them waive the fee when it was within 21 days in departing city time zone but not by booking city time zone

UPDATE: AA has removed all close-in fees

You got AA's system to work yesterday???

I check CX on BA. Furthermore, people have reported getting AA to work when logged in.

Thanks for that. worked!

Just thinking, if I book an AA award in J on BA metal and closer to the time availability opens up on AA metal, might it be worth it to cancel and rebook on AA and save a few hundred dollars YQ?

I will let others chime in on that but I assume its a simple math problem. If BA YQ > then rebooking fee + new AA taxes then Id say yes.

Yes. BA is pretty reliable. If you see F and J seats on the flights you need, just book the F and J separately and keep monitoring/calling AA until the last minute. You can upgrade for no fee with just the additional required miles if you should see an extra F seat open up.

Ok thanks

No need to cancel and rebook. If you are keeping the same o/d, you can switch to AA metal for free and get a refund of the difference in taxes/YQ.

Update: Got 1 J and 1 F on Thurs. Found a second F 10 minutes before shabbas and was able to book it with 2 minutes to spare. I love this game!

IME when I've done it (I usually put flights on hold with AA and then call it in to book with BA), it goes back into inventory right away.

And why I said "when I've done it." I know that doesn't always happen. Just saying my experience.
