$75 fee:

-21+ days prior to departure is based on the departing city time zone, not the booking city time zone.

EDIT: I managed to call in and have them waive the fee when it was within 21 days in departing city time zone but not by booking city time zone

UPDATE: AA has removed all close-in fees

Hey, you beat me to it. You can also see here and here.

I just thought that if you transited DOH it'd count. I wanted to try to find QR space to the US to try it out, but no luck so far.
I recall someone mentioning availability in May. Just checked and indeed there's availability DOH-JFK.

Can you cancel a hold online or do you need to call? Online it says you need to call to get your miles back, but no miles were ever deducted since it's just a hold.

Why is there a need to cancel it? The hold expires after 5 days and will not be ticketed unless you tell them to.

Well if I want to ticket it but on a different AA account and there's only those 2 seats left I'd need to cancel it and rebook on the other account, no?

Maybe he wants the seats back in inventory.

IIRC, it goes by how you originally placed the hold. If you did it over the phone you'd need to call to cancel.

See here and here.

If I understand it correctly, seems like the reason you can't do AUH is because in order for this exception to work QR needs to get you from origin region to your destination region.

Interesting, so the "DOH exception" allows you to exceed the MPM?

And I guess Dan was incorrect when he said this?

Correct.

Ok, so back to my question -

Asia 2 to Europe is only allowed via DOH.

I just put the following on hold: SIN-DOH (QR)-AMM-KBP (RJ) and the rep priced it as 1 award (Asia 2 to Europe) in J for 52.5k.
What's the reason behind this, does 1 leg on QR metal and a stop in DOH give it the "DOH exception" even though it's also connecting in AMM on RJ?

Do all/some of the AA flights from NYC-LAX have flat lie down seats on business class?

We are both right. He is "righter" because the A321 that I mentioned actually is the ONLY aircraft flying that route.

I would rather not use points for my infant on business class so:

does anybody know if on business class for this route you can place infant comfortably somewhere without holding him the whole flight.  for example since there is more  room in Business class will they let you bring in baby seat or do you have any other ideas?
