$75 fee:

-21+ days prior to departure is based on the departing city time zone, not the booking city time zone.

EDIT: I managed to call in and have them waive the fee when it was within 21 days in departing city time zone but not by booking city time zone

UPDATE: AA has removed all close-in fees

Is it a thing that sAAver F and J JFK-LAX is wide open on Fri, Sat, Sun all Summer yet not a single seat M-Th? Are they doing that in hopes that business travelers will pay?

That's my guess.  Business travelers do pay,  and lately those seats haven't been opening up even last minute,  so maybe it works for them.

Hi, is anyone else having difficulty making award booking on AA site?
I have tried on two computers, one PC and one Mac, and each time I get to the seat selection page, I get a splash screen that freezes me.
See attached.
Thanks.

ETA: glitch seems to be resolved.  ;D

No miles needed to hold an AA flight.

I eventually want to book it with avios so If I remove the hold will it be able to be booked by BA right away?

Sometimes it does. Luck of the draw. Has worked for me every time I've done it (knock on wood), but hasn't worked for others.

Are you sure that wasn't just because there was more availability on the flight?

Im only referring to times where there were no other seats available. If there were, the discussion is moot my friend.

I'm looking to fly LGA-YUL on 12/31 using Avios. Do you guys think I have a high chance of getting availability a few days before the flight?

Also, any way to book a paid refundable ticket until there is availability? I wish Southwest flew out there....

Even though the T&Cs state that AA GCs may not be used in conjunction with award flight booking, is there a way to use them to pay for the tax and fees on award flights?
