$75 fee:

-21+ days prior to departure is based on the departing city time zone, not the booking city time zone.

EDIT: I managed to call in and have them waive the fee when it was within 21 days in departing city time zone but not by booking city time zone

UPDATE: AA has removed all close-in fees

What does AA charge for changing an award res on a partner airline (CX)? Would be keeping same origin and destination and class, just changing dates. Is the charge per reservation or per person?

No change fee. Doesn't matter if it's AA metal or partner.

An award from South Africa to the US using AA can only be considered 1 award if both legs were on QR. Since the flights I'm looking at are not both on QR, it'll price as two awards.

CPT-DOH-AUH-JFK-LAX

If it book the first award CPT-DOH-AUH, can the DOH-AUH be on EY, or would I need to book CPT-DOH as one award and DOH-AUH-JFK-LAX as the other?

If I book DOH-AUH-JFK-LAX  as one award, and then later on I want to change the routing based on availability and change the flight from DOH-AUH from EY to QR, would AA allow that (DOH-AUH on QR, AUH-LAX EY)?

Basically, can you make an award booking which has both QR and EY on the same ticket?

I don't see why it makes any difference to be honest. The only difference seems to be whether DOH-AUH is on QR or on EY so why does it matter?

Well maybe having the DOH-AUH flight on the same PNR would make getting any checked bags transferred easier/quicker?

If that is the case, then I'd obv do it on EY as the rest is on EY.

Yet then if I switch it to QR, it would have been better to have it part of the first half.

Why better? Bc of lounge access? Not sure how significant that really is. It's not like you aren't getting into a decent lounge otherwise.

Are you kidding? If I go on QR "F" I have access to the  Al Safwa lounge in DOH, vs if I'm on EY J I only have access to the Onyx lounge in DOH.

No matter how you many awards it is, you can have it all on 1 PNR and you can have your bags checked all the way through.

Well based on the current flights, 4.25 hours in DOH from 23:50-04:05 and 4 hours in AUH from 06:20-10:20. Yes, we'll have a kid, so it sounds like a really not fun night. Would you take such flights with a kid?

Well they might, except I don't have enough miles in 1 account to book everything, so I'd need to book the SA to ME awards on one account and the ME-NA award on another account.

Can't make the connections longer and tour DOH and/or AUH a bit?
