$75 fee:

-21+ days prior to departure is based on the departing city time zone, not the booking city time zone.

EDIT: I managed to call in and have them waive the fee when it was within 21 days in departing city time zone but not by booking city time zone

UPDATE: AA has removed all close-in fees

I found this very interesting:

http://viewfromthewing.boardingarea.com/2015/12/24/42880/
Same shtik that they're doing lax - jfk.  I can't believe every flight is going out full.  I did randomly get a saver F jfk lax for a Motzai Shabbos end of January.
That's AA for you.

I also found F and J seats on almost every flight, JFK-LAX for most F, S, S, M in July.

Whats with AA agents not being able to see awards that are available on BA's site? I have no confidence when I search and search if I'm just gonna be told that they can't see availability, I'm wasting a ton of time.
Is there a pattern of what they can/can't see?
A better way to search availability?
A better call center (tried US, AU, HKG and SIN)?
Specific times to call?
Higher level employee I should be requesting?

Are you giving the rep the exact flight number or just route?

Exact number. The only way I was able to get her to see the AA metal that I was seeing was by putting it on hold and then she saw it in my account, not on her search. CX/JAL I cant hold cause I'm seeing it on BA

I am looking into flying EY F in March from TLV. 2 adults and one infant but will buy the baby his own seat @ 90k. Since RJ Tlv-Amm only opens up 2 award seats, I will probably have to book him as an infant ticket for that flight. Will RJ still allow me to check in the 2 allowed bags for him since he is booked with a regular seat on the Amm-Auh-Jfk segments? TIA

Can there be a change of airports on an award? Say HKG-HND then NRT-LAX?

That comment doesn't answer his question.
OP's question was regarding booking an award, not changing an award.

It means it is YMMV. It can be done at the discretion of the rep you are dealing with but they could very well charge you as well.

Regarding changes - maybe, but OP's question was regarding booking an award, and the answer is - yes, you can change airports.

Thank You D39!

What happened to your luggage? You had to schlepp it or they transferred it?
