$75 fee:

-21+ days prior to departure is based on the departing city time zone, not the booking city time zone.

EDIT: I managed to call in and have them waive the fee when it was within 21 days in departing city time zone but not by booking city time zone

UPDATE: AA has removed all close-in fees

Booked! TLV-AMM-AUH-JFK-LAX. Will I get the chauffeur in AUH? I'd really like to check out DXB
No chauffeur on AUH layovers. Sorry.

Why not? They don't keep you hostage in AUH.

All wrong :P

Well, at least for me. I also have no idea when I'll take this trip, but I booked 11 months out = schedule changes = free change/cancellation. Booking far out allows me to book at current rates, but change date later to something after deval. All in all, makes sense for a speculative booking, even if it may cost me $175 long run.
if i was doing it just me and my wife and had the ability to take off a week whenever i want then it would be a no brainer. Furthermore the only time i would take this route is enroute to America which narrows down the times i can take this. Even as a speculative booking i would still need to find availability for 3 seats when i want to switch, no easy feat.
TLV-SYD on the other hand will likely be booked pre-deval though...

isnt it free changes either way?

I'm doing it with an infant, that's arguably a lot easier than a toddler.
infinitely easier

Another valid point to book now, Emkay.
the only reason i would book this is if i need to get from point A to point B and for that there are more realistic options.
checking out AUH and EY F will be done hopefully by booking to SYD

Well in that case there's no need to do it now. It just seemed like the reasons you gave lead me to believe you weren't interested doing it until the times were better and your kid was older.

Or BA. It's still 25k, but cancellation is cheaper.

Well technically if my kid was older and the flight times worked out better I would do it. If all the stars aligned...
