$75 fee:

-21+ days prior to departure is based on the departing city time zone, not the booking city time zone.

EDIT: I managed to call in and have them waive the fee when it was within 21 days in departing city time zone but not by booking city time zone

UPDATE: AA has removed all close-in fees

I did it with 2.
It's doable, but not as easy.

That's kind of how I felt having booked CPT-DOH-AUH-LAX. Now that I changed to CPT-DOH-AUH-JFK//LGA-CLT-LAX I can spend the next 6 months waiting, hoping and praying that AA releases space JFK-LAX non-stop, or that better routing opens up. Fun times!
Set some alerts and don't bother checking.

It's possible with 2, but often harder. Even harder still if you need 3 seats, etc.

I set loads of alerts for non-stop flights. I'm also searching other routing with a stop though. Too many possibilities to set alerts for.

I did it with 2.

And the most fun trip is booking a flight while driving to the airport.:)

My wife and kid didn't complain when I did it.

My wife would never have an issue if we have the days available for travel. The issue is way more with babysitting. There is no way I am taking a 3 and a 1 year old with me in F Cabins (show me 4 seats even available! (that are not on Sunday to auh ;))). So it is important for my travel to have an idea of dates.

I am looking into flying EY F in March from TLV. 2 adults and one infant but will buy the baby his own seat @ 90k. Since RJ Tlv-Amm only opens up 2 award seats, I will probably have to book him as an infant ticket for that flight. Will RJ still allow me to check in the 2 allowed bags for him since he is booked with a regular seat on the Amm-Auh-Jfk segments? TIA
I unfortunately don't know the answer to your question (though I'd be surprised if they'd give you two bags for him).
However, is it true that they always only open up 2 award seats on that route?

:edited: misread your post

good call with getting 3 seats. I'm kicking myself now for not getting a third seat when apartments was wide open. Dealing with an infant fair is a PITA

Many airlines can technically but don't. Would any of you take the risk with a 1.5 hour layover (at BKK)?
