$75 fee:

-21+ days prior to departure is based on the departing city time zone, not the booking city time zone.

EDIT: I managed to call in and have them waive the fee when it was within 21 days in departing city time zone but not by booking city time zone

UPDATE: AA has removed all close-in fees

As I said. No change fee as long as >21 days from *original* booking date:
Eta if that's true, if I need a flight tomorrow I can book it for 22 days and change the flight in the morning...
So this is true?

No. It can't be changed to within 21 days of the original booking.

This has been my experience as well.  Originally booked 6-12 months in advance.  Changed dates and have not been charged $75 fee.  Once was changed just a couple days before departure and once day of.

Anyone know of a flight that has an historically high volume of changes in the USA east bound?

Made a booking, miles were debited, but CC was declined so it wasn't ticketed.
I just received the following email -

Quote
We’re sorry. Your payment has been declined.

Thank you for choosing to book with American Airlines. We’ve been unable to ticket your reservation as your payment was declined.
You may need to contact your bank or credit card company. We will hold your reservation for 72 hours. Contact our Customer Service team before then with an alternative payment or your original card. Please be aware that fares and flights are not guaranteed until ticketed.
Your booking reference is xxxxxx.

Question: If I don't call back rather just let them cancel it, will they redeposit the miles for free?

As a data point (not necessarily sufficient evidence for your case):
I upgraded a J ticket to an F but there weren't enough miles in the account (20 miles short), the ticket "erred" and redeposited for free.

By itself automatically?

Other than a consolidated cancelation fee and ease of access, is there any other reason to book 2 people on one PNR?
The mailos of separate would be to slowly lock-in the desired flights without needing to wait for 2 available seats and if I hope to have AA open (fulfill an itinerary) I think I'd have an easier time twice for one person than once for two.

You can book on 1 PNR and then split it when something opens up.

Why would that make a difference? You can just go into each PNR separately and choose seats next to each other...

It's a lot easier to deal with any IRROPS when you are on 1 PNR.

Dan wrote on DDMS about making tickets on AA and cancelling without redepositing the miles. Had anyone been doing this?

I've done it plenty of times (and I'm sure many others have as well).

What's your question exactly?

question about that: when you rebook does the name have to match or can you switch the name?
