$75 fee:

-21+ days prior to departure is based on the departing city time zone, not the booking city time zone.

EDIT: I managed to call in and have them waive the fee when it was within 21 days in departing city time zone but not by booking city time zone

UPDATE: AA has removed all close-in fees

Seems like a married segment issue. Some had luck when putting on hold and then call a(n) (experienced) representative to separate them.
Not for a while already. Regardless it would be an inexperienced rep.

So not possible to separate married segments anymore? Very annoying as I can find ISP-PHL-LAX but only want to do PHL-LAX

Also any way to get around the bs $75 close-in fee? Don't have gold status anymore. Does Hyatt explorist match to gold?

Not sure if this is the right place to put this but AA is offering free status upgrade to Platinum Pro.  Its free until April, and if you get 2400 eqd or 20000eqm you can keep that status through jan 21, 2021.  Its under promotions

Most likely means no availability for your date. You can use https://www.aa.com/booking/find-flights if you want to see flexible dates.

Was it a web special or regular Saver? Didn't want to book the web special w/o knowing I'd be able to change it later

Trying to book my son, who is 13, using miles and then linking his flight to an adult I know flying on the same flights. Couldn't do it online. Called customer service and they said they would do it, but would not honor the web special mileage rate and had a rate that was 40K mile more. They said nothing they could do since I didn't book online. Seems ridiculous they couldn't make an exception (I don't have AA status). What are risks to booking online with incorrect birthdate and then calling after booked to change birthday and link the account? Anyone have experience?

Make up the birthday so he's 100 years older. Fix if you want, no need.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

Just learned the hard way that AA hold is worthless for QR.
Apparently this is old news for QR and EY but I never heard it so figured I'd share.

If I booked a mileage ticket through AA that's through Alaska air, will I still get free checked luggage with AA credit card?
