$75 fee:

-21+ days prior to departure is based on the departing city time zone, not the booking city time zone.

EDIT: I managed to call in and have them waive the fee when it was within 21 days in departing city time zone but not by booking city time zone

UPDATE: AA has removed all close-in fees

My elderly father in law is traveling to israel this summer. Was supposed to travel with a nephew of mine and I booked them both a an AA premium economy award ticket (67.5k per person per way). Turns out that nephew won't be able to make that journey with him so another nephew has volunteered.. problem is premium economy NY-TLV is no longer available that depart date. I believe I can cancel the original traveler's Premium Economy award ticket, question is if it's gonna open up that premium economy award spot immediately so I can book that seat for my other nephew?
Or should I not cancel and rather try name and DOB change on the original ticket?

Did you try calling up AA directly?
Explain the situation that elderly person needs a person to accompany him on flight.
Due to extenuating circumstances,  need to change ticket.

It could happen but not something you can rely on.

I don't think airlines will ever change name and DOB.

Name “and” as in both.

So do you think they will agree to change name but not DOB? If last name is the same maybe there's a chance, by telling them that it was booked by the name person is called, but on the passport it's something else.

DOB is a non-issue and can be changed at check-in time.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

Are there any non-stop AA 40k flights available JFK-TLV or MIA-TLV?

ETA: I see stopover available, but not seeing saver award space on non-stop.

I know it's possible, but I only saw availability w/ stopover.

ETA: I was looking at May/June 2023. Now I see availability in other months earlier

When would June/July/Aug 2023 open saver space?

I want to book an AA ticket for my sister who has a different last name. Someone mentioned that AA is very active these days in going after sellers. How risky is it if the passenger is my sister?
I am sometimes accused of overthinking things. I am still mulling over whether that accusation has merit.

Not risky at all (unless perhaps you have a long history of booking tickets for other people that don't share your last name...in which case you might have eyes on your account already...but even if that were the case you can easily prove the familial relationship for this particular booking).

+1.
The risk is booking for anyone who may have also bought tickets from agents, etc.

Held
TLV-HEL-LHR in AY J
LHR-JFK in AA F

as a Web Special at 137.5k AA

Hold was until 8/2/22. Called last night to confirm that it was still valid until 11:59pm tonight. Was advised that it was.

Check account at 8am this morning and PNR was showing cancelled.

Called AA several times. Seems that since 2020 Partner airlines do not have to honor holds and AY cancelled one segment which cancelled the entire itinerary.

Any recourse? @Dan DOT?

AA refuses to accommodate or honor pricing.
Fair warning - Any PMs sent in response to forum posts are fair game for ridicule in public.

I've heard about this happening as far back as a decade ago. Unfortunately I am not aware of any recourse.

Looking to book AA business JFK-TLV 2 adults with 3 kids, one of which is under 2

1. How much would it cost to add the baby as a lap child, is it really 10% of fare $ amount?
2. If I choose instead to buy a seat for the baby, will they allow a car seat to be installed in the seat?

3. This is a bit unrelated. I haven't used my AA account since pre covid. At the time they were doing shutdowns where it only triggered once you booked an award flight, and for some only at the day of the flight. How concerned should I be about that? I.e. if my account can book tickets, and I got no notice of a shutdown does that mean it's all good?

Are you referring to the shutdowns that were occurring due to excessive credit card bonuses?

You should be fine, I highly doubt AA has been sitting around for 3 years waiting to screw you on the day of travel

Thanks,

If I want to buy an extra seat, is it the same as domestic - just put in name extraseat+last name, or is it different for international?
