$75 fee:

-21+ days prior to departure is based on the departing city time zone, not the booking city time zone.

EDIT: I managed to call in and have them waive the fee when it was within 21 days in departing city time zone but not by booking city time zone

UPDATE: AA has removed all close-in fees

Is it a new thing to need to pay for seats on AA anytime coach awards?

And will I have any luck getting AA to pre-assign free seats for a family traveling together?

If I booked a flight and now the same flight is available for fewer miles, can I cancel and rebook? How long would it take for miles to be reinstated?

"This trip includes a Web Special award. Once it’s ticketed:
- You cannot make changes.
- You can cancel your trip and reinstate miles at no charge if your plans change."

Yes. Should be within a few minutes, but you can also hold the lower price.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

Not that you would know of such things, but not if you now don't have enough miles in your account :-)

Thats exactly when you can hold.
Fair warning - Any PMs sent in response to forum posts are fair game for ridicule in public.

Lol, thanks! I didn't see that option when I tried before, must have been a different error which I stupidly attributed to the insufficient mileage based on confirmation bias.

Will direct flights from USA (JFK or MIA) to TLV during summer 2023 ever open saver awards? (Currently selling June and early July 2023)

I see non-direct flights through MAD and LHR at 40k.
I also see direct flights in Jan, Feb, and March at 40k and 36k - web special.

How long does AA take to reinstate the miles and to refund the taxes/fees?

I cancelled a flight last night and I don't see anything.
120 characters? Hmm, I wonder what I could write with 64 characters. Boy, it's gonna be hard to use up 15 characters. W-

Was it for aa or for a partner flight?

It's usually right away, logout and login again. Did you get a cancel email?

About 6-8 weeks ago I had 2 instances where I canceled and wasn't refunded. When I called last week they said that for online cancellations you need to call for refund so I guess it's YMMV.

Call before the PNR becomes inactive and it'll be a much quicker process.

AA. Although to be honest, it may have been American Eagle on some regional carrier if that makes a difference.

One thing I learned about web specials, while you can only cancel and not make changes, if it's a round trip you can cancel the inbound once you've flown the outbound.

Also, not davka about awards, but the main cabin extra seats fluctuate in price. I got seats to ey for half of what they normally are. Closer to flight they went back up.

right, I always book each way individually- as it gives you total flexibility to cancel (change) 1 leg if needed

The pricing can be less on a rt, so its a trade off
