JJ1000's list of top restaurants and dishes in Miami:

1. Backyard BBQ (New chef in mid 2017 totally new menu): Burnt ends, 2nd cut brisket, Dinosaur Rib, BBQ Sundae, BBQ Burger.

2. 26: Sushi pizza is  a must I prefer it with baked salmon, then the Passion Mojito, Sushi Teriyaki tempuraed, Cilantro Aioli dip and truffle fires, all of their soups are good. Miso Bass is incredible as well.

3. Harbour Bistro, new menus in early 2018: Chicken and waffles just perfect, duck a l'orange pot stickers, millionaire ramen, lamb shank, charcuterie platter if that's your thing... Also serving brunch, Chicken and waffles again, eggs Benedict with bacon on top,

4. Fuego: Flatbreads are a must, then the back ribs, pastrami egg rolls, smores dessert, perfect date drink are good. (Update March 2017, the app chef and bbq chef isn't there anymore and the quality has been spotty from recent reviews.)

5. Zak The Baker. Menu changes too often to recommend stuff. Not Cholov Yisroel.

6. Kosh: Chocolate souffle and korean beef with extra sauce are good.

7. Rustiko: Spinach and Artichoke Dip, (Quinoa Salad is very good), (Pappardelle Mushroom if lunch), Mushrooms Panzerotti is an absolute must order only down side is it's a dinner only item. Oreo cheescake dessert but make sure it's fresh.

8. Harbour Grill: The Harbour Grill Filet or TheKing Reserve steaks are great. Supreme Burger is very good as well.

9. Pizza type options:

Foozo: Foozolis, the caprese foozoli with extra balsamic sauce and garlic aoili, their pastas are good as well.

Jerusalem Pizza: Best plain pie, get it fresh in store, coated fries good as well.

Lenny's pizza: Gan Eden Pie.

Also notable unique places are The Freeze which makes ices, serendipity makes ice cream (there is one next door to ZTB now), and Miami Beach Chocolates turtles and bark now also in Surfside!

erroneous  Miami is always humid. In Miami there is always rain in the forecast. It doesn't necessarily rain. Hotels are not usually cheap during these months
so you really like to make things up.....

I would advise you to come down to Miami Beach.
Everything is pretty much okay down here.
The restaurants are all open with outdoor seating. Some restaurants are offering up to 20% off your bill. The hotel rates are incredibly low. Hotels that usually go for $500/Night are below $150/Night. I was on the beach this morning and it was heavily underpopulated.
There is a curfew in place at 10 PM but it really just is for stores.

I don't feel less safe now than I felt over the past few months. Don't get scared off by the news.

I am very happy that you do not feel any less safe... I promise you if you (Or your family member) ended up on the hospital you would feel (and in reality be) far less safe than you would have been over the prior few months. Please recognize that likelihood of acquiring COVID is a factor of level of riskiness /exposure multiplied by likelihood of other individuals having COVID. While low-risk activities might have been reasonable a month ago that is no longer the case. With tens of thousands and likely hundreds of thousands of individuals in South Florida having COVID, any unnecessary exposure puts your life and those of everyone around you in significantly greater risk at this time.

Why do you make such a charge?

Or you know, you can listen to someone like @YankyDoodle, who is actually on the front lines, working in a hospital in Miami, instead of sticking your head in the sand. It'll change your life. Literally.

I don't want to go down this political path and I won't.
My point here is Miami bus safe right now. You are free to disagree.

I don't think I've ever read so much fake news in my life. You're making me very close to adding new forum rules.

Facts:
1 Miami is always gross and humid in the summer, it rarely is in the winter.
2 Miami rains nearly every day in the summer, it rarely does in the winter.
3 Miami hotels always have bargains in the summer, they rarely do in the winter.
4 Miami restaurants often run specials in the summer and have plenty of space, they never do in the winter.
5 It is extremely unpleasant to eat outdoors in the Miami summer.
6 COVID19 is running rampant in Miami, more so than anywhere in the world, in all age groups, and facts don't care about your feelings.
7 The law requires quarantining when you go from NY to FL and FL to NY. Sure, you can also cheat on your taxes or shoplift and it's not always enforced, but that doesn't mean you're not breaking the law so don't pretend otherwise or tell people it's not the law.
8 Show some respect for Doctors running the front line and taking care of patients in hospitals that are now more jammed with patients than NY was in March. Especially ones that also take the time to keep DDF informed!
9 This has nothing to do with politics, grow up!!!!

Coronavirus is really effecting people. It's one thing to have fake news about the virus. But to argue about Miami being unbearable in the summer?
Life isn't about checking the boxes. Nobody cares.

Agree with Dan, and some additional details, for Miami Beach in July-Aug-Sept:

Average highs: 89-91 F.  Temperature tends to reach the high about 10-11 AM, stay there till early evening.
Average lows: 77-78 F, around 5-6 AM.

Rains 12-15 days/month, on average.  Sounds like every other day, but it's more like a dry week followed by a week of rain every day.  Often this is "passing thunderstorms", that is, blue skies in the morning, then a quickly developing thunderstorm in the afternoon, with heavy winds - 40-50 mph - and flooding.

The current monthly prediction for Miami Beach shows rain or thunderstorms predicted for every day between August 9 and 31, except for Aug 12, 15 and 16.

A worse-than-average summer hurricane season has been predicted, but you usually get a day or two advanced notice to stock up on emergency supplies, or try to join the crowds driving away from it.  IIRC, in Hurricane Irma in 2017, all of Miami Beach was under evacuation orders, as well as other nearby areas.

I've never heard anyone who lives here say that they like the weather, but that "It's okay" or "I don't mind".  That's because of air-conditioning, but if you're going to spend your vacation in an air-conditioned hotel, why not find one closer to home?

Some restaurants are closing again due to the covid surge, according to the news, but I don't know whether or not that includes the kosher ones.

Like NYC in March/April, the surge in covid hospitalizations means delays for those seeking care for other medical emergencies.

In theory, Miami is bearable in the summer if you spend time in AC. With COVID raging and most indoor dining and activities closed (and if open). Add in a mask, and it's one of the worst places on the planet to vacation right now. Not to mention the quarantines.
