JJ1000's list of top restaurants and dishes in Miami:

1. Backyard BBQ (New chef in mid 2017 totally new menu): Burnt ends, 2nd cut brisket, Dinosaur Rib, BBQ Sundae, BBQ Burger.

2. 26: Sushi pizza is  a must I prefer it with baked salmon, then the Passion Mojito, Sushi Teriyaki tempuraed, Cilantro Aioli dip and truffle fires, all of their soups are good. Miso Bass is incredible as well.

3. Harbour Bistro, new menus in early 2018: Chicken and waffles just perfect, duck a l'orange pot stickers, millionaire ramen, lamb shank, charcuterie platter if that's your thing... Also serving brunch, Chicken and waffles again, eggs Benedict with bacon on top,

4. Fuego: Flatbreads are a must, then the back ribs, pastrami egg rolls, smores dessert, perfect date drink are good. (Update March 2017, the app chef and bbq chef isn't there anymore and the quality has been spotty from recent reviews.)

5. Zak The Baker. Menu changes too often to recommend stuff. Not Cholov Yisroel.

6. Kosh: Chocolate souffle and korean beef with extra sauce are good.

7. Rustiko: Spinach and Artichoke Dip, (Quinoa Salad is very good), (Pappardelle Mushroom if lunch), Mushrooms Panzerotti is an absolute must order only down side is it's a dinner only item. Oreo cheescake dessert but make sure it's fresh.

8. Harbour Grill: The Harbour Grill Filet or TheKing Reserve steaks are great. Supreme Burger is very good as well.

9. Pizza type options:

Foozo: Foozolis, the caprese foozoli with extra balsamic sauce and garlic aoili, their pastas are good as well.

Jerusalem Pizza: Best plain pie, get it fresh in store, coated fries good as well.

Lenny's pizza: Gan Eden Pie.

Also notable unique places are The Freeze which makes ices, serendipity makes ice cream (there is one next door to ZTB now), and Miami Beach Chocolates turtles and bark now also in Surfside!

What's the best grill in Boca (Grill Time, Century, or Pita n go)?
Century is the best of those three but why don't you go the new butcher block grill that just opened?

You can use your Ritz points at Turnberry Isle in Aventura (the old Fairmont).  Walking distance to restaurants (and Uber for everything else).  Not on the beach but they have their own private beach and a free shuttle to/from.  We had an awesome stay there and will definitely be back.
Thanks!
anyone else been there?

I have stayed at both. It really depends if you want to be directly on the beach or not. Note that the Diplomat (now a Curio by Hilton) is in Broward and therefore no UBER. There are also no kosher restaurants within walking distance. In both cases the rooms are somewhat dated, though the pool at Turnberry is more kid friendly (slide and lazy river) and they also have a quieter adult pool.

Quick Food TR:

Fuego by Mana - Went to the new location in Waterways on Wednesday Night with a non-kosher work colleague. They need to work out some kinks overall. The place was very crowded and loud (and they still blast the "Hey it's your birthday song"). The decor is great and similar to Bedford Kitchen. The menu has been expanded greatly and now offer a number of steaks, burgers, etc. While they had a lot of servers who kept coming to the table, the servers themselves were not great. We asked for a description of the different steaks and the server had no idea and apologized that he had just started three days earlier. The beer on tap wasn't working, so they comped the drinks. We ordered shisoto peppers appetizer, which came quickly and was really good. Things went downhill from there. We ordered two steaks. The food came very quickly, but both steaks were ordered medium rare. Mine came rare, but my colleague's filet was raw, ie cold in the center. It took three times of being sent back until it was cook correctly in the center, but way overcooked on exterior. I was shocked that no manager was made aware of the fact that a steak was sent back three times. My steak was actually very good and well seasoned, but the lack of management oversight of the servers was frustrating. I know that my expectations were probably too high, but the food was so good at the other location, that I was hoping for the same experience, but I think they need to up their game with the larger restaurant.

Zak the Baker - Amazing food. This is a bakery in the middle of Wynwood, which is a very hip area of Miami filled with art galleries, and trendy store. Limited menu sandwiches and breakfast items and some platters (along with baked goods). Decor is very hip. I had a breakfast sandwich, with was delicious. The sourdough bread was heavenly, with the egg and spreads all came together perfectly. I would definitely suggest, but this is not a kid friendly menu and definitely a different feel than sitting in Shemtov's or the other places on 41st.

Foozo - I ordered food to be picked up before my flight. Due to flight delays and traffic, I ended up coming late to pick up the food, so the food wasn't hot. The pizza was OK. Definitely not in the level of Pizza Da Solo or ever the pizza at Cine Citta. However, I also ordered a Foozoli, which is basically a calzone and was delicious (even cold). The restaurant itself isn't anything to write home about, but I would give this place another chance if I was staying in NMB or Aventura.

I was going to go on Tuesday when they opened, but I learned a while ago you don't go to opening week if you really want to know how a place is. They are unorganized and often the chef is still learning the different cook areas of the grill/oven.

I will have a big report of restaurants sometime but to note, the barley soup from Backyard BBQ is the best I've ever had. If someone is in town ask if they have it and go get a bowl, it was delicious.

Never saw a master restaurant review thread. Is there one? Separate each state/city in a pinned post.

No, just Miami places.

I have no idea what you are talking about.

Who's making a master reviews thread and why are we making a pinned post?

The pinned post would have links to go to each cities restaurant reviews (I think).

I usually have the same rule of not going to restaurants within the first week of opening, but we were looking for something kosher within the Aventura/NMB area and didn't want to go to Grill Time. On a different note, The Waterways Shoppes has definitely gone downhill. Almost all the retail spaces are empty, including the big locations near the water (where Prime Grill used to be).

Don't see how you can offer an opinion on a place based on cold food.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

True - but I made a disclaimer that the food was cold. Some people prefer cold pizza to out of the oven.
