JJ1000's list of top restaurants and dishes in Miami:

1. Backyard BBQ (New chef in mid 2017 totally new menu): Burnt ends, 2nd cut brisket, Dinosaur Rib, BBQ Sundae, BBQ Burger.

2. 26: Sushi pizza is  a must I prefer it with baked salmon, then the Passion Mojito, Sushi Teriyaki tempuraed, Cilantro Aioli dip and truffle fires, all of their soups are good. Miso Bass is incredible as well.

3. Harbour Bistro, new menus in early 2018: Chicken and waffles just perfect, duck a l'orange pot stickers, millionaire ramen, lamb shank, charcuterie platter if that's your thing... Also serving brunch, Chicken and waffles again, eggs Benedict with bacon on top,

4. Fuego: Flatbreads are a must, then the back ribs, pastrami egg rolls, smores dessert, perfect date drink are good. (Update March 2017, the app chef and bbq chef isn't there anymore and the quality has been spotty from recent reviews.)

5. Zak The Baker. Menu changes too often to recommend stuff. Not Cholov Yisroel.

6. Kosh: Chocolate souffle and korean beef with extra sauce are good.

7. Rustiko: Spinach and Artichoke Dip, (Quinoa Salad is very good), (Pappardelle Mushroom if lunch), Mushrooms Panzerotti is an absolute must order only down side is it's a dinner only item. Oreo cheescake dessert but make sure it's fresh.

8. Harbour Grill: The Harbour Grill Filet or TheKing Reserve steaks are great. Supreme Burger is very good as well.

9. Pizza type options:

Foozo: Foozolis, the caprese foozoli with extra balsamic sauce and garlic aoili, their pastas are good as well.

Jerusalem Pizza: Best plain pie, get it fresh in store, coated fries good as well.

Lenny's pizza: Gan Eden Pie.

Also notable unique places are The Freeze which makes ices, serendipity makes ice cream (there is one next door to ZTB now), and Miami Beach Chocolates turtles and bark now also in Surfside!

Starwood in Miami area for Shabbos
« Reply #40 on: December 18, 2009, 12:11:57 PM »
Does anyone have any suggestions for a *wood property in the Miami area that is nice and convenient for Shabbos? Looking to be near a shul and possibly someplace to eat the meals or in a hotel that we can warm up food in the room and eat there....
Thanks for any tips.

Also looking for any tips on spending a few day in Key West, hotel and activity recommendations etc...

only 2 that I know of 1 the 4 Points off 41st but its known to be worse then a sewer dump!

The other The Diplomat up in Hollywood/Dania on the beach, appx 209th St

Theres a shul appx 1 mile North or a friend said last yr there was a new Chabad a block away

The only other idea is to trade someone your SPG pts for their Marriott pts and stay at the Eden Roc which is @ 45th st and a 10 min walkover to Tower 41 area. Of cause if you dont have status with MR you can probably count out a great view but then with The Dip they have 36 floors which can be a very longwalk up or down the stairs if yous core a top room with view. The Lounge is I believe on the 34th floor

If you arent gonna be using pts then Id try and see if that Chabad by the Dip offers meals if not then Id simply stay with whatever you can find near to 41st st . Rare should be open for Shabbos meals on 41st St, theres alsoa Courtyard on 36th that should be less then the Eden Roc.

Thanks for the info. How recent is your review on the 4 points? I see they write on SPG that they renovated the place.

DIPLOMAT is a much better option! Upon check in last year, I was greeted with a list of Kosher amenities available at the hotel, and shuls, restaurants, Religious babysitters and more. They are making a strong push to attract Jewish travelers.

with a car Aventura is a 10 min drive. Or if you get up early The Shul on the Beach on Madison 1 mile north. But Shabbos is the problem, if its raining or humid that mile walk can do you in, also you will need to feed the meters by the shul.

Dont know if that Chabad is still around they were across the street and down a side street, so a friend told me last year.

The best was Sheraton Bal Harbour 1 block to the Shuls and restaurants but its gone, a St Regis is suppose to go up there but who knows what Cat that will be.

I take it you mean Waterways, since I dont know of anything that is a short walk and I wouldnt walk to Waterways , its maybe a 10-15 min car ride depending on traffic

also keep going South on A1A and after the causeway (bridge) that says to Aventura Mall, a few blocks past that and I think a Texaco station is Bisila (dairy) I think its in the 180s in a strip mall

The 4 points is NOT that bad, and the location is great on Shabbos.
Plus you can eat both meals on Shabbos a couple of minutes away in Tower 41 by Greenwald catering (from Lakewood I believe)

Well a ton of people on FT seems to disagree with You. I havent stayed there nor even walked into the place but with amount of BAD reports on FT and other sites all basically saying the samething Id go with them on this

Now true the Dip is a Cat5 and the 4P is a Cat4 but Id pay the difference since the Dip is Worth it

As for food as I posted theres a Chabad House across the street that I was told has meals on Shabbos

Better then Greenwald is 'Rare' a block past Tower 41 on 41st St (left side walking from Collins)

Well I DID stay there and it's not bad. Plus how much time will you spend indoors, instead of going out to the beach or to daven and to eat the meals? Plus the location on Shabbos is much better especially in regard to the food. Just make sure to get a ocean view room and you can relax on the balcony all Shabbos afternoon. Try it once please!!
What is this  'Rare' place? Do they have Shabbos meals? What Hechsher? How much money compared to Greenwald?

sorry Im gonna go along with all of those on FT and Trip Advisor and Im Staying Away from the 4P

Rare is open on Shabbos and is gerenally isnt cheap. I dont know their prices nor what Greenwald charges.During the week w/o a res you cant get in

Hechsher 1 of the local Glatt etc etc

But I generally dont care for Greenwalds food Ive had at a number of weddings at Bais Faige and other Halls in Lake

I agree the food is better down by 41st but no way can U compare the 4P to The Dip, go 1 time to The Dip you yourself would never set foot back in the 4P. As for an Ocean room thats not so simple during Peak times like the Winter.

I was there in Jan last year with a packed hotel, and still they upgraded me to a king suite with a city view with my lousy gold status. The next day at the desk I easily DOWNGRADED myself to a standard room with a huge balcony facing the pool overlooking the ocean. I'm sure that you can pull it off as well! Do me a favor and try it once for the convenience of the location on Shabbos even though it doesn't compare to the Dip

No need on my part over 1 Mil in Marriott Pts and I have the Eden Roc on 45th or the CourtYard on 36th, plus till 4/11 I have a cert for 7 nights at any MR up to and including a Cat6 (Eden Roc) and as aPlat with MR I get upgrades with them as well

I'm going to miami Feb, I'm thinking of staying in the new w south beach (on points 20,000) and walking to 41st street area for food and minyan.  Anyone stay there for shabbos?  Can it be hard getting in your room?  Do you think they will provide a "shabbos key"?  Any ideas from anyone that has been there?

I'm sure Levi's been there but I've never ventured outside of the MIA airport.
