JJ1000's list of top restaurants and dishes in Miami:

1. Backyard BBQ (New chef in mid 2017 totally new menu): Burnt ends, 2nd cut brisket, Dinosaur Rib, BBQ Sundae, BBQ Burger.

2. 26: Sushi pizza is  a must I prefer it with baked salmon, then the Passion Mojito, Sushi Teriyaki tempuraed, Cilantro Aioli dip and truffle fires, all of their soups are good. Miso Bass is incredible as well.

3. Harbour Bistro, new menus in early 2018: Chicken and waffles just perfect, duck a l'orange pot stickers, millionaire ramen, lamb shank, charcuterie platter if that's your thing... Also serving brunch, Chicken and waffles again, eggs Benedict with bacon on top,

4. Fuego: Flatbreads are a must, then the back ribs, pastrami egg rolls, smores dessert, perfect date drink are good. (Update March 2017, the app chef and bbq chef isn't there anymore and the quality has been spotty from recent reviews.)

5. Zak The Baker. Menu changes too often to recommend stuff. Not Cholov Yisroel.

6. Kosh: Chocolate souffle and korean beef with extra sauce are good.

7. Rustiko: Spinach and Artichoke Dip, (Quinoa Salad is very good), (Pappardelle Mushroom if lunch), Mushrooms Panzerotti is an absolute must order only down side is it's a dinner only item. Oreo cheescake dessert but make sure it's fresh.

8. Harbour Grill: The Harbour Grill Filet or TheKing Reserve steaks are great. Supreme Burger is very good as well.

9. Pizza type options:

Foozo: Foozolis, the caprese foozoli with extra balsamic sauce and garlic aoili, their pastas are good as well.

Jerusalem Pizza: Best plain pie, get it fresh in store, coated fries good as well.

Lenny's pizza: Gan Eden Pie.

Also notable unique places are The Freeze which makes ices, serendipity makes ice cream (there is one next door to ZTB now), and Miami Beach Chocolates turtles and bark now also in Surfside!

I'm looking to book a 2 bedroom suite (going with 3 kids) using starwood points.
Anyone have any luck getting something nice, with an ocean view for a reasonable amount of points?

I have 175K points to burn
For a more discount option, you could go 4 points at 43rd (boardwalk access) - only 10k per night. I believe they can upgrade to an ocean view for a fee. More expensive options include the W in South Beach and the SR in Surfside.

How many nights do you need? do you need to be walking distance of a shul?

Residence Inn-Marriott Surfside is brand new and will cost you 1/3 of the SPG points with a transfer and you can have 2 adjoiing rooms.
The kids "adjoining" would have 2 double beds and a sleepsofa, while your's would have your preference.
It's not an ocean view.

The Four Points Sheraton is only 10K per night, and you can have an ocean view there -- they may also have adjoining rooms for points usage.
They usually charge cash for their 1-2 bedroom suites.

If you only need a couple nights, then Fort Lauderdale, South Beach Miami, and Sunny Isles/Aventura have some good SPG or Marriott-transfer that are more upscale.

Sorry, I forgot the mention the length

It’s for 3 nights, feb 4-7
No need to be within walking distance from shul

I don’t mind blowing all 175k Starwood points
Would like a nice size suite, ideally with a view

Just looking for the best option with this amount of points

Thank you

seems that one of the most upscale options would be the St Regis for 105K starpoints for 3 nights (35K per night).
It is right on the beach at Bal Harbour and an upscale shopping mall nearby. No need for a car (and parking fees) if you want to eat out at about 8-9 great places on the next blok on Harding. (see wiki).
Otherwise, South Beach has a "W" and other properties on the water, but less kosher restaurants.
Check out SPG.com and they'll list the points rates, and the map locations.

The st Regis is great, but those rates are for a regular room
I need either two rooms, or a two bedroom suite

Do you know what that would cost?

I only have 175k

I would also rather a two bedroom suite, then two regular rooms
Has anyone been able to redeem points for a two bedroom suite either at the st Regis or the ritz?

Best bet is to sell your spg... and use the cash to get whatever you want... plenty of options for a 2 br suite with that kind of money
