JJ1000's list of top restaurants and dishes in Miami:

1. Backyard BBQ (New chef in mid 2017 totally new menu): Burnt ends, 2nd cut brisket, Dinosaur Rib, BBQ Sundae, BBQ Burger, Lemon/Apple/Smores desserts.

2. Fuego: Flatbreads are a must, then the back ribs, pastrami egg rolls, smores dessert, perfect date drink are good. (Update March 2017, the app chef and bbq chef isn't there anymore and the quality has been spotty from recent reviews.)

3. 26: Sushi pizza is  a must I prefer it with baked salmon, then the Passion Mojito, Sushi Teriyaki tempuraed, Cilantro Aioli dip and truffle fires, all of their soups are good.

4. Zak The Baker. Menu changes too often to recommend stuff. Not Cholov Yisroel.

5. Kosh: Chocolate souffle and korean beef with extra sauce are good.

6. Foozo: Foozolis, the caprese foozoli with extra balsamic sauce, their pastas are good as well.

Also notable unique places are The Freeze which makes ices, serendipity makes ice cream (there is one next door to ZTB now), and Miami Beach Chocolates turtles and bark.

best place to go for shabbas take out? Staying in Bal harbour, but willing to go to other areas for better selection/pricing.

Can anyone recommend a hotel in Collins 41st area or Bal Harbour for shabbos the weekend of 5/25 - 5/27 which will be cheaper than $250 a night or cheaper than 40k Chase UR total?

I have done the Confidante and was not a fan. I would even prefer the four points but their rate is astronomical for the weekend I am going..

I just did Fountainbleau through Airbnb for just over $200 a night, cool idea and was definitely worth it.
I did also do the Confidente for that trip, and was actually quite happy, so my opinion may not matter to you. :)
I'll tell you later

Thanks! I just didn't like the ambiance for shabbos. Nice place overall though! I just tried finding the fountainbleu on Airbnb, and came up with nothing. I would appreciate any other feedback..

That was my problem - decent place, nothing special & customer service was horrible.

Planning a first time trip to MIA. Options are a renting an already kosher house with a pool in NMB (at a decent price), or using points for the Residence Inn Surfside (space is a big factor- the status that I have will not guarantee me any upgrades so the RI will give me the most space for my points).

Obviously the space and private pool are very appealing, but will the location detract from the enjoyment of the trip? Looking at Google Maps, it will take 45 minutes to get to 41st and Collins area during rush hour.  But it is a halfway point between kosher restaurants in Aventura and Surfside. Alternatively staying in a more central area will shorten our driving time, but my wife won't be able to swim at all.

Any thoughts/opinions?
