JJ1000's list of top restaurants and dishes in Miami:

1. Backyard BBQ (New chef in mid 2017 totally new menu): Burnt ends, 2nd cut brisket, Dinosaur Rib, BBQ Sundae, BBQ Burger, Lemon/Apple/Smores desserts.

2. Fuego: Flatbreads are a must, then the back ribs, pastrami egg rolls, smores dessert, perfect date drink are good. (Update March 2017, the app chef and bbq chef isn't there anymore and the quality has been spotty from recent reviews.)

3. 26: Sushi pizza is  a must I prefer it with baked salmon, then the Passion Mojito, Sushi Teriyaki tempuraed, Cilantro Aioli dip and truffle fires, all of their soups are good.

4. Zak The Baker. Menu changes too often to recommend stuff. Not Cholov Yisroel.

5. Kosh: Chocolate souffle and korean beef with extra sauce are good.

6. Foozo: Foozolis, the caprese foozoli with extra balsamic sauce, their pastas are good as well.

Also notable unique places are The Freeze which makes ices, serendipity makes ice cream (there is one next door to ZTB now), and Miami Beach Chocolates turtles and bark.

From MIA to the Everglades, where ever you go you will add an hour. Miami Beach or Downtown are both in the opposite direction.
I think you have your directions confused.

Holy bagels adds 20 minutes in current traffic to the trip.

I finally made it downtown to this new "hip" restaurant called Sami & Susu

It definitely has a vibe to it, although not one I was a fan of. The music is way to darn loud (The chef doubles as a DJ throughout the night.) and for me made the whole experience rather unpleasant.

Chef/DJ:

We started out with their Burnt Eggplant Carpaccio ($20.95):

We were asked if we'd like some bread with it (Um, how else would we eat that?) and told the waiter that'd be great.

Little did we know, this is an off menu item called Focaccia for which they charge you another $11.95:

It also comes with a tahhini, olive oil/balsamic, and charif dip:

So the eggplant dish was fantastic, really great flavors and fun to eat. The Focaccia was also fantastic, it was perfectly crunchy on the outside with great flavor, we ended up asking for more bread, before we knew it was $12 for 2 pieces...

Basically EVERY dish here has fish. There is only one pasta dish and it is the Pappardelle Aglio E Olio, which of course also comes with fish ($32.95):

The pasta is homemade, but nothing special. The whole dish had a very mild flavor, with just some olive oil and a little bit of pepper for taste. There were also a couple mostly raw garlic cloves in it, I wish they cut up the garlic and used it in the dish so it had more flavor...

They had an awesome looking dessert table which they told us would cost $55 for 2 people:

https://www.instagram.com/p/BzwoL5wglh2/

We opted to get their Art De Coco dessert ($15.95) and asked if they can add a Creme Brule which was not on the menu:

The Creme Brule was inedible, it had no vanilla flavor, it was deep instead of wide, and tasted like eggs. I make omelets that taste better than that... They charged us $15.95 for it, which seems crazy considering that huge table of food was $55...

The Art De Coco was ok, my wife hated that they only used very dark chocolate in a milchig restaurant. The yellow creme was tasteless, and the rest of it was all fine, nothing special.

We were still hungry so we decided to try one more main that was recommended by a friend, the Salmon Lombardio ($29.95):

Again the flavors were very underwhelming, another dish has caramelized onions, which we asked for on the side, but were told they don't have any tonight, then we asked for some diced garlic to add on top for flavor, which they sent out some cold gloves of garlic that were previously roasted but not good anymore... The stuff on the side is polenta, which was also fine but lacked flavor.

We were full in the end, and loved the beginning of the meal, unfortunately there is nothing that would get me to go back again and I don't see them surviving staying kosher, unless they add some more flavor and more comfort food items (Other pastas). Total bill was $174.57, so if they do stay open, it'll be due to the high price :))

The place is definitely unique and if you are a big fish fan, I suppose it could be worth trying out. If you love loud music and trying new hip things, this is the place for you ;)

Personally I will stick with plenty of other great options in Miami...

Are any Hilton Resorts (which qualify for the $250 Aspire credit) walkable to Kosher food in the Miami area? I just upgraded a card to Aspire but it's mid-year and renews 10/1/19, meaning I have a month to use the $250 credit before it resets. Going to be in Miami for 1 night next week with one child and must have a car - originally planned to use up a Hyatt annual night at the Confidante due to proximity to everything Kosher, but now that I have this $250 credit, I'd love to use it up at a hotel where I can get the night, resort fee, and parking charge included in the $250 (which seems doable at some of the resorts since some of them have starting prices in the $120-$150 range). Any thoughts?

The ones I see in that price range are:

1) Hilton Ft. Lauderdale Beach Resort
2) Hilton Cabana Miami Beach
3) Gale South Beach
4) The Gates Hotel South Beach
5) Doubletree Ocean Point North Miami Beach

Thanks.

* From Looking over all the options, I'm leaning towards the Hilton Cabana as it's close to Surfside and Miami Beach (and most restaurants deliver there via UberEats if need be), with the Doubletree Ocean Point a close 2nd. Will decide in next day or 2, need to cancel Confidante 3 days before.

Need some help/ I've been to Miami Beach numerous times. We are thinking of going to Boca for a change. I found a Marriot that looks real nice. Question: Has anyone ever stayed at the Boca Raton Marriot at Boca Center and is it near the kosher restaurants and shuls. We would go from Sunday to Thursday in November. TIA.

So no one answered the above so I'll go for a different question. All the recent trips we took to Miami Beach we took Uber instead of renting a car. Came out easier and less expensive. Does anyone know if this holds true for Boca? We made plans for a week (not Shabbos) in November IYH. Staying at the above hotel. Hope we did right.

You can price it out in the uber app and calculate whether it will be cheaper or not
