We are a family of 9, so we usually try a lot of what's on the menu. Our last trip to florida we went to:
Boca
Asia (2) - manager is around so if any issues arise he will help you out. went for dinner both times, 3/10 for ambiance, dont get cocktails unless you tell them exactly how to make it. got a seabreaze, a simple vodka cranberry grapefruit, they were out of cranberry both times! the second time he just gave me vodka and orange juice. the others got pina colada, mai tai, not good. for appetizers, gyoza was ok, not crispy, just cooked chicked, spring rolls had a good flavor, would get again, the spicy thai drums were very good, crispy, juicy, got them both times. skipped soups, i dont eat sushi, but i was told from everyone around the table that it was better than both motzarts, for main course, short ribs was not worth $35, dry and no unique taste, wokburger for $16 was good, juicy, (asked for medium rare), the boneless rib eye for 35 is ymmv, mine was dry and tough, but another order was really tender. the 2nd time we went the ribeye was very good, so to each his own. dessert was regular, hot fried gelato was ok, but the chocolate moose wasnt good
Motzart (2) - across from asia, they need more waiters, both times there was only one for the enire place, 3/10 for ambiance, great view on the back wall, some outdoor seating, we went for lunch twice, any softdrinks we ordered only arrived at the end of the meal, and was not worth it, french onion soup was good, nice amount of cheese, bread, and onions, shakshukah was good, chummus was really good (got mediterranean platter both times), dont get omelettes, not woth it, pizza was better than motzart in hollywood, i liked them a lot, they were quite small, kids fish n chips was good, got both times, for pastas, cheese ravioli was ok (motzart in hollywood is better), penne a la vodka wasnt good, fettuccine alfredo was better, didnt try the gnocchi (wanted to), for sushi, they liked this over the motzart in hollywood
House of Dog - went for dinner, they have outdoor seating also, 3 tables indooors, small bar area and a large room in the back (where we were) but its a high table with stools, not good for the elder, service was very unprofessional, paper plates, plastic cutlery, service was a very long wait, had a music box that you pay $1 a song (that was fun
), 4/10 ambiance fits the place well, had interesting pics on the walls, menu will take you yrs to figure out, very convoluted with different fonts, but the bottom line is you get an item and you could choose topping, sauces, and side dishes, the rest of the menu are just pre-chosen selections, for the food, got corn dog, which was really good, unique taste, got buffalo and jack daniels bbq wings both really good, hot dogs were not good, the jack daniels hot dog was bad, others all tasted the same, except for the spicy ones, burgers were actually very good, not very big but decently proportioned for its price, and i enjoyed that the most, the pulled bbq spare ribs was dry and very small portion, not worth it, in summation, fast food quality but with the wait.
Grill Time - The most unexpected restaurant of all. We expected a simple meal, nothing amazing. Ample space to sit, couches and chairs, bar area, 3/10 ambiance was simple, cozy, went for dinner, a lot freebies
, soups were delicious, split pea and soup of the day (beef), came in really cool bowls (heavy iron kettles), for appetizers, hummus was very good, loved it, cigars were ok, nothing specials, but beef short ribs, were out of this world, they were so good my entree was the beef short ribs, very tasty, made my day, glazed chicken was ok, for main course, i got the beef short ribs
, gaza strip steak was not worth it, rib eye steak was better, hawaiian tropical steak was very good, didnt get desserts, my favorite of all boca restaurants
more to come
