JJ1000's list of top restaurants and dishes in Miami:

1. Backyard BBQ (New chef in mid 2017 totally new menu): Burnt ends, 2nd cut brisket, Dinosaur Rib, BBQ Sundae, BBQ Burger.

2. 26: Sushi pizza is  a must I prefer it with baked salmon, then the Passion Mojito, Sushi Teriyaki tempuraed, Cilantro Aioli dip and truffle fires, all of their soups are good. Miso Bass is incredible as well.

3. Harbour Bistro, new menus in early 2018: Chicken and waffles just perfect, duck a l'orange pot stickers, millionaire ramen, lamb shank, charcuterie platter if that's your thing... Also serving brunch, Chicken and waffles again, eggs Benedict with bacon on top,

4. Fuego: Flatbreads are a must, then the back ribs, pastrami egg rolls, smores dessert, perfect date drink are good. (Update March 2017, the app chef and bbq chef isn't there anymore and the quality has been spotty from recent reviews.)

5. Zak The Baker. Menu changes too often to recommend stuff. Not Cholov Yisroel.

6. Kosh: Chocolate souffle and korean beef with extra sauce are good.

7. Rustiko: Spinach and Artichoke Dip, (Quinoa Salad is very good), (Pappardelle Mushroom if lunch), Mushrooms Panzerotti is an absolute must order only down side is it's a dinner only item. Oreo cheescake dessert but make sure it's fresh.

8. Harbour Grill: The Harbour Grill Filet or TheKing Reserve steaks are great. Supreme Burger is very good as well.

9. Pizza type options:

Foozo: Foozolis, the caprese foozoli with extra balsamic sauce and garlic aoili, their pastas are good as well.

Jerusalem Pizza: Best plain pie, get it fresh in store, coated fries good as well.

Lenny's pizza: Gan Eden Pie.

Also notable unique places are The Freeze which makes ices, serendipity makes ice cream (there is one next door to ZTB now), and Miami Beach Chocolates turtles and bark now also in Surfside!

Here's somewhat of a TR
got in motzai shabbos, rented from Alamo, and went to stay at the residence inn fort lauderdale weston.  Davened by Chabad of Weston, under 10 minutes away.  Visited Sawgrass and then ate by Sarah's (we wanted pizza in hollywood area). played a little bit at the seminole classic casino, and then drove down to miami beach.  Drove around there a little, and then davened mincha mariv by Beth Israel.  Then it was time to use the living social coupon at Capri.  It was 2 of us, and we "had" to spend 50. I asked if it was pre tax 50 and the guy told us if our overall bill would be 70 after tax and tip we would be safe. Ya so i knew that was over exaggerating.  We ordered $49.80 worth of food and they didnt give us a problem. they included 18%  gratuity (and of course left a line for a tip on the final bill). After tax and tip, the bill came out to $63.25.  Subtract the 50, add on the $11.75 which was the cost of the coupon, and our ~$50 worth of food, plus tax and tip, came out to $25. o ya, the food was pretty good.  Then we drove back to the Weston.
Next day davened at Chabad, and then we headed back to Miami.  Drove around a bit and went to Lenny's pizza, very big slices.  Walked on the boardwalk, met a friend, and then went to the thriller boat ride.  Walking up to the counter i quickly bought a groupon, bringing the cost of 2 tickets from 72 to 38.40. (they added on 5 bucks of taxes).  The boat ride was awesome. they take you around really fast, the mansions are magnificent (and who cares if they do or do not belong to who they say it does), and you will get very wet.
Drove back to the Hilton homewood suites by the airport, davened by YI of hollywood, ate by pita plus, which has nice sized potions, returned our car by the airport, and called the hotel's complimentary shuttle to pick us up.
morning flight back to jfk in the morning and the shuttle driver said its a little chilly this morning, referring to the 65 degree 7 am weather in fort lauderdale. poor floridians

There are people on DDF who know of some apts. in Tower 41 in Miami. It's expensive, but they are mostly modern apts.
There are Ashkenazi and Sephardi minyanim in the building, (Shabbos elevator), an outdoor pool with separate hours, Rare serves KFP meals on-site, a play area, basketball and it's 2 blocks from the Atlantic.
Thank you. This sounds like a good option. Any idea how I could get in touch with the Tower 41 people with the appartments?

Looking for a shul rec in South Florida.
Can anyone tell me of shul in Boca or Hollywood that has Kiddush club, or at least has liquor at the main Kiddush.
That and youth groups for kids would be a plus.
Thanks.

Thank you. This sounds like a good option. Any idea how I could get in touch with the Tower 41 people with the appartments?

One person posted here on DDF -- but it was $3K for Pesach for a 2 BR.
I know that they have "official" agents in the building there to work with that -- however it's possible that adds to the cost.... There are also I owners there now who leave and rent direct.

I'll get a few numbers and PM you. In the meantime the FL locals prob know more information....

Looking for a shul rec in South Florida.
Can anyone tell me of shul in Boca or Hollywood that has Kiddush club, or at least has liquor at the main Kiddush.
That and youth groups for kids would be a plus.
Thanks.
Should I be concerned that you're asking about kiddush club and youth groups in the same breath?  ;D

Flying out of FLL tonight @ 8
any suggestions for the closest restaurant near the airport?
Thx

Levy's on Sheridan St, and Pita Plus on Stirling Rd are probably the closest.

They do have kosher meals for sale in the airport now, from Kosher Central.

Thank you. If anyone knows of good options in Orlando for pesach rental please let me know. Or how I can get in touch with the group that splits a house for a shul.

Here is my trip report for Miami, I'm not a professional and juicy writer like Dan but I tried my best.

I stayed at a private villa in North Miami Beach, very comfortable! the private heated pool was awesome, parking was free ☺, it couldn't be more convenience than a kosher kitchen for Shabbos, my last night I went to Sheraton in cypress Creek,  was well worthed for 4000 SPG points!

Restaurants:

Grill time - North Miami Beach 9/10

This was definitely the best restaurant I was in Miami, they were out of the Gaza Strip Steak I took the Kalbi pepper steak was awesome 10/10, the Korean steak was a bit dry 6/10 the chocolate soufle desert was good 7/10 the pulled beef sliders was great 8/10, service 9/10

Chai Wok - lunch 3/10

Quite bad experience, I wanted to share a dish with my wife and they warned me that I cannot share anything, they were like standing and looking if we share the meal, sesame chicken nuggets (I asked for beef I got chicken) I got like 4 pieces wasn't worthed the money, wasn't good at all 3/10, sweet and sour veal 4/10, eggs drop wonton soup 6/10, service 3/10

Fuego 2/10

We had to wait a long time for a place, it was jam packed, for the appetizers I told ok pulled brisket empandas 1/10, was horrible, tasteless, I asked for a medium rare center cut steak 4/10 it was totally raw, i asked them if it's medium rare they answered let me check... sorry it's rare, they took it back and grilled it again, it came back dry as a bone, we took the BBQ pulled brisket sandwich 1/10 it was horrible, was very sweet, it tasted like the Israeli vegetables tuna in the cans... For the entrée I took chicken nuggets, I asked them how many pieces I'll get they told me more than 10 pieces, I got like 12 popcorn size nuggets with a very sharp BBQ sauce 3/10, the birthday music was extremely loud, I had like five birthdays in a hour, service was 5/10

Fresco - lunch 7/10

Salmon wrap 5/10 was very small and not the best, crab wrap 7/10 was very small but good, sushi wasn't bad, service was quite good 8/10

Beyond by Shem tov n/a

I only grabbed a grilled salmon wrap for lunch it was awesome 10/10!

Asia grill - boca raton 9/10

Was very good overall, service was very good 9/10, very nice area, the rib eye steak was excellent 10/10, the sweet & sour chicken nuggets was very tasteful and I got alot for the $$$ 9/10, wonton egg drop soup wasn't like I'm use to, wasn't heavy, I didn't like it my wife said it wasn't that bad 3/10, I took gyoza for the appetizer was very good 9/10

Mozart in boca raton - breakfast 5/10

Very nice area, we had some technical problems, the manager wasn't there to help us, he wasn't helpful at all on the phone, our server tried her best to solve it herself, the shakshuka 6/10 Spanish omelette 7/10, they give only half a baguette quite a little, ice mocha 3/10 wasn't sweet at all, ice vanilla latte 3/10 wasn't sweet at all.

Holy bagel - lunch 8/10

The appetizer I took cheese in tiny baguette don't remember the name wasn't bad 8/10, salmon wrap 8/10, ice cheese cake latte 8/10 it didn't taste like cheese cake like it suppose to, service was good 9/10

Our shabbos food we took from Mrs. Englander, was excellent! And very decent prices!

Kosher market place in boca raton, very good grocery! They have very good food, the meat sandwiches was very good and fresh, doesn't seem like a overpriced grocery like Miami prices.

Question is why does everyone in MIA rave about Feugo?
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

Ok. Need some help here. With which card(s) do you not need the extra insurance on car rentals. I have Citibank advantage cards, Ink, us airways, Amex SPG. Any? And which insurance should I not take and which should I take. Someone mentioned somewhere that one of them you should take. I'm not up on insurance. Thanks. Then, what's the deal with getting into a lounge with the ink card? With wife? how many times or just one way? Finally, best hotel in Miami Beach environs or FLL area for SPG points, but not too many (similar to amount for the Four Points on Collins, which people didn't seem to like too much). Whoever can help with the above, thanks a million.

I believe your spg card should cover the insurance. No need to take any other insurance as your regular insurance will cover you for liability. Look through this thread for more info: http://forums.dansdeals.com/index.php?topic=4830
