JJ1000's list of top restaurants and dishes in Miami:

1. Backyard BBQ (New chef in mid 2017 totally new menu): Burnt ends, 2nd cut brisket, Dinosaur Rib, BBQ Sundae, BBQ Burger, Lemon/Apple/Smores desserts.

2. Fuego: Flatbreads are a must, then the back ribs, pastrami egg rolls, smores dessert, perfect date drink are good. (Update March 2017, the app chef and bbq chef isn't there anymore and the quality has been spotty from recent reviews.)

3. 26: Sushi pizza is  a must I prefer it with baked salmon, then the Passion Mojito, Sushi Teriyaki tempuraed, Cilantro Aioli dip and truffle fires, all of their soups are good.

4. Zak The Baker. Menu changes too often to recommend stuff. Not Cholov Yisroel.

5. Kosh: Chocolate souffle and korean beef with extra sauce are good.

6. Foozo: Foozolis, the caprese foozoli with extra balsamic sauce, their pastas are good as well.

Also notable unique places are The Freeze which makes ices, serendipity makes ice cream (there is one next door to ZTB now), and Miami Beach Chocolates turtles and bark.

Can anyone report on the shabbos meals at days inn?
They are very generous with their food, and will let you try as many dishes as you want.

Lion Country Safari is great for 3 boys under age 8. The tour to see the animals is nice -- however when you get to the end,
there is free entry into the park with a "ferris wheel" a small boat, 3 parallel slides with sacks, and we went last year during/right after Yeshiva week
and there we NO lines to any of the rides -- totally empty -- had the whole place to ourselves so we "raced" our boys on the slides with sacks, too...
Would recommend making the trip.

Good info. How about one more place?

My ideal foodie oriented day in Miami based on what I've had/done so far.

7am: Arrive at Zak The Baker and order a Breakfast Sandwich, dessert bread, some chocolate croissants and fresh squeezed juice.

8am: Walk around the Art Deco area.

9am: South Beach Segway tour from Bike N Roll.

10:30am: Foozo for their caprese foozoli.

12pm: Head over to Surfside for 26's Passion Mojito, sushi pizza, sake teriyaki roll, and whatever soup is on the menu. Take it to go and enjoy it on the roof top of the Grand Beach Hotel with beautiful views of the ocean. You can also stop at RustiKo for their creamy mushroom quinoa and Oreo cheesecake. (If you want to try some unique ice cream stop in serendipity as well before heading to 26.)

1:30pm: Head on down to the ocean and get in some sun and swimming if desired.

2:30pm: Now ready for more food head over to Kosh for their Korean Beef and Chocolate souffle.

3:15pm: Harbour Grill has amazing soups as well, and scallop sushi.

4pm: Either walk around the beautiful Baal Harbour Shops or Head over to Oleta State Park and rent kayak's or canoes for a quick river excursion.

6pm: Fuego for dinner where you order the perfect date, flat breads, pastrami eggroll, back ribs, and the smores dessert.

8pm: Head over to finish off the night with some shopping on Lincoln Road and a sorbet from the Freeze.

Don't do it alone. With a friend/wife you just split everything. An there's no reason to do that all in one day. Unless you are in MIA for one day and not coming back.

do i need a reservation? I am on a tight schedule and dont want to show up and not get on the boat or have to wait a while.
Everglades Holiday Park is a very good airboat tour (not the cheapest).  You don't need to reserve.  Just show up to the reservation desk with your printed coupon, and tours leave every 20 minutes.  I beleive when I went I found a coupon online for some sort of discount.  With these things btw, your experience can always vary depending on the driver.
