JJ1000's list of top restaurants and dishes in Miami:

1. Backyard BBQ (New chef in mid 2017 totally new menu): Burnt ends, 2nd cut brisket, Dinosaur Rib, BBQ Sundae, BBQ Burger.

2. 26: Sushi pizza is  a must I prefer it with baked salmon, then the Passion Mojito, Sushi Teriyaki tempuraed, Cilantro Aioli dip and truffle fires, all of their soups are good. Miso Bass is incredible as well.

3. Harbour Bistro, new menus in early 2018: Chicken and waffles just perfect, duck a l'orange pot stickers, millionaire ramen, lamb shank, charcuterie platter if that's your thing... Also serving brunch, Chicken and waffles again, eggs Benedict with bacon on top,

4. Fuego: Flatbreads are a must, then the back ribs, pastrami egg rolls, smores dessert, perfect date drink are good. (Update March 2017, the app chef and bbq chef isn't there anymore and the quality has been spotty from recent reviews.)

5. Zak The Baker. Menu changes too often to recommend stuff. Not Cholov Yisroel.

6. Kosh: Chocolate souffle and korean beef with extra sauce are good.

7. Rustiko: Spinach and Artichoke Dip, (Quinoa Salad is very good), (Pappardelle Mushroom if lunch), Mushrooms Panzerotti is an absolute must order only down side is it's a dinner only item. Oreo cheescake dessert but make sure it's fresh.

8. Harbour Grill: The Harbour Grill Filet or TheKing Reserve steaks are great. Supreme Burger is very good as well.

9. Pizza type options:

Foozo: Foozolis, the caprese foozoli with extra balsamic sauce and garlic aoili, their pastas are good as well.

Jerusalem Pizza: Best plain pie, get it fresh in store, coated fries good as well.

Lenny's pizza: Gan Eden Pie.

Also notable unique places are The Freeze which makes ices, serendipity makes ice cream (there is one next door to ZTB now), and Miami Beach Chocolates turtles and bark now also in Surfside!

In case anyone is planning a trip to miami beach soon, Four Points (decent, but great location) is moving down to Category 4 from 5... http://www.spgpromos.com/2016categorychange/?ES=SM_TWTR_371193665&SWAQ=4JM6&linkId=21394627

there are many excellent places. The first question to ask (after you mentioned locations) would be: meat or dairy?

Ppl seem to be familiar with SoFla, but if it helps anyone, I will write a brief TR about our low-key low-cost trip there last week (between Yeshiva break and PS break, great time to go).

MIA airport is furthest from where we stayed, in Boca Raton, but my wife was pleased with her free manicure at Centurion.
I was hoping to hit up Fuego but  it was too far. We went one night to House of Dog, which is great (I got Miami Heat hotdog which was very good, their fries are great, and their burgers are great). Another night we went to Century Grill. We waited about 15-20 minutes to be seated but were pleased with our meal (I got BBQ brisket sandwich, wife got burger, which was not as good as HoD). One night my wife went with friend to Mozart which she enjoyed, I went with a friend to Butcher Block, where they offer a burger, fries, and beer for $15 after 9:30. It's a good deal but the burger was fine, nothing special. They also closed not that long after 930 (maybe 1030-11) so you have a tight window. We got takeout food from Kosher Marketplace a few times (including Shabbos) and were pleased with everything, even the prices.

For activities, we had a 4 yo son and 1.5 yo daughter. One day we went to Gumbo Limbo, a nearby turtle hospital which is free. Only 1-2 hours, but can't beat the price. One day we went to Palm Beach Zoo, which is no Bronx Zoo, but perfect for our kids because we saw the whole zoo in 2-3 hours. There was a coupon online for a free child which made the cost around $40 total. On the last day, we took my son who is obsessed with pirates on Blue Foot Pirate Adventure. Again, a LivingSocial cut the price in half and my son LOVED it. We left our little girl with my parents and after watching another parent on the trip struggle with a 2 yo, we were happy with our decision. The activity is a boat ride, but the boat is designed like a pirate boat, the captains are two "pirates," there's treasure etc. Very cute, and also interesting for adults as one of the pirates gives a more adult-friendly tour. Otherwise we sort of hung out in local parks or in the pool.
Fun week, not too busy, and not too expensive. Hope this helps someone.

No. Me and my wife couldn't get through, showed up at opening and had to sweet talk my way into a seat and only got lucky because it was early enough in the night and we promised to order and eat quick.

Is harbour grill the best option for a high end steakhouse? Any other options with nice ambiance?

Fuego is really nice, was at harbour grill and had a really nice time. Furgo does have a bar running along the side but overall it's a nice restaurant with great food. They are both great options. Wasn't at Kosh but heard it's really nice as well

Mini TR:
Food;
Got there Thursday night. Tried to order take out from harbor grill. After putting us on hold for five minutes and not picking up the phone we called back again and they said no takeout. Got from backyard: pulled beef: 7/10. Works burger: 8/10. Truffle fries 8/10.
Friday and to rustiko, they were very full but they gave us a round table which usually sits 4, we fit 6+baby. Food was excellent. Papperdale mushroom: 8.5/10. Spinach torteloni: 8/10. Kids Mac and cheese (was actually really good, not just wacky Mac): 8/10. The pizza left what to be desired, did not like the cheese.
Motz"sh ordered take out from 26. Sushi pizza: 10/10. Godzilla:8/10. Nitro:8/10. Hurricane:9.5/10
Sunday went to Kosh. Excellent as well. Trio tacos:8/10 the duck one was 10/10, but the other two weren't as good). Pulled beef sliders: 8/10. Ribeye: huge steak (if you were on a budget could just order this and be full). 8.5/10 and the potatoes it came with were delicious as well.
TBC with activities and last two days of food...
Life isn't about checking the boxes. Nobody cares.

Anybody know of a cheap (~$50 per hour) boat rental place that will rent to 25 year old? (Some places told me they wouldn't rent to someone below 27 unless they have a boat liscense, others told me that they would be able to train me quickly but were gonna charge like $100 per hr)

under 27 generally needs to make a boat license that is valid for a year. costs couple of dollars.
Don't wait for the perfect moment; take the moment and make it perfect.
