JJ1000's list of top restaurants and dishes in Miami:

1. Backyard BBQ (New chef in mid 2017 totally new menu): Burnt ends, 2nd cut brisket, Dinosaur Rib, BBQ Sundae, BBQ Burger, Lemon/Apple/Smores desserts.

2. Fuego: Flatbreads are a must, then the back ribs, pastrami egg rolls, smores dessert, perfect date drink are good. (Update March 2017, the app chef and bbq chef isn't there anymore and the quality has been spotty from recent reviews.)

3. 26: Sushi pizza is  a must I prefer it with baked salmon, then the Passion Mojito, Sushi Teriyaki tempuraed, Cilantro Aioli dip and truffle fires, all of their soups are good.

4. Zak The Baker. Menu changes too often to recommend stuff. Not Cholov Yisroel.

5. Kosh: Chocolate souffle and korean beef with extra sauce are good.

6. Foozo: Foozolis, the caprese foozoli with extra balsamic sauce, their pastas are good as well.

Also notable unique places are The Freeze which makes ices, serendipity makes ice cream (there is one next door to ZTB now), and Miami Beach Chocolates turtles and bark.

Make yourself an are in the lobby or find a table outside by the pool

Are you speaking from experience having done this and it being pleasant, or just an outsiders perspective?

Any recommendations for a surfside restaurant (or a different area) that will deliver to a Surfside hotel for dinner? I know most people are going out and many restaurants don't even want to do take out so I'm not so sure about delivery... Also, if it's with delivery from the restaurant or using a service like seamless, eat 24 etc. Looking for meat and/or dairy options. TIA!

Do't bother with Harbour Grill. They are not very helpful.
26 and Kosh do takeout. I'm pretty sure Kosh delivers.
Life isn't about checking the boxes. Nobody cares.

I was there a couple weeks ago. By the pool there are plenty of tables where you can bring your food. There were at least 5 families/couples doing the same. Not a big deal at all.

In case anyone is planning a trip to miami beach soon, Four Points (decent, but great location) is moving down to Category 4 from 5... http://www.spgpromos.com/2016categorychange/?ES=SM_TWTR_371193665&SWAQ=4JM6&linkId=21394627

there are many excellent places. The first question to ask (after you mentioned locations) would be: meat or dairy?

Ppl seem to be familiar with SoFla, but if it helps anyone, I will write a brief TR about our low-key low-cost trip there last week (between Yeshiva break and PS break, great time to go).

MIA airport is furthest from where we stayed, in Boca Raton, but my wife was pleased with her free manicure at Centurion.
I was hoping to hit up Fuego but  it was too far. We went one night to House of Dog, which is great (I got Miami Heat hotdog which was very good, their fries are great, and their burgers are great). Another night we went to Century Grill. We waited about 15-20 minutes to be seated but were pleased with our meal (I got BBQ brisket sandwich, wife got burger, which was not as good as HoD). One night my wife went with friend to Mozart which she enjoyed, I went with a friend to Butcher Block, where they offer a burger, fries, and beer for $15 after 9:30. It's a good deal but the burger was fine, nothing special. They also closed not that long after 930 (maybe 1030-11) so you have a tight window. We got takeout food from Kosher Marketplace a few times (including Shabbos) and were pleased with everything, even the prices.

For activities, we had a 4 yo son and 1.5 yo daughter. One day we went to Gumbo Limbo, a nearby turtle hospital which is free. Only 1-2 hours, but can't beat the price. One day we went to Palm Beach Zoo, which is no Bronx Zoo, but perfect for our kids because we saw the whole zoo in 2-3 hours. There was a coupon online for a free child which made the cost around $40 total. On the last day, we took my son who is obsessed with pirates on Blue Foot Pirate Adventure. Again, a LivingSocial cut the price in half and my son LOVED it. We left our little girl with my parents and after watching another parent on the trip struggle with a 2 yo, we were happy with our decision. The activity is a boat ride, but the boat is designed like a pirate boat, the captains are two "pirates," there's treasure etc. Very cute, and also interesting for adults as one of the pirates gives a more adult-friendly tour. Otherwise we sort of hung out in local parks or in the pool.
Fun week, not too busy, and not too expensive. Hope this helps someone.
