JJ1000's list of top restaurants and dishes in Miami:

1. Backyard BBQ (New chef in mid 2017 totally new menu): Burnt ends, 2nd cut brisket, Dinosaur Rib, BBQ Sundae, BBQ Burger.

2. 26: Sushi pizza is  a must I prefer it with baked salmon, then the Passion Mojito, Sushi Teriyaki tempuraed, Cilantro Aioli dip and truffle fires, all of their soups are good. Miso Bass is incredible as well.

3. Harbour Bistro, new menus in early 2018: Chicken and waffles just perfect, duck a l'orange pot stickers, millionaire ramen, lamb shank, charcuterie platter if that's your thing... Also serving brunch, Chicken and waffles again, eggs Benedict with bacon on top,

4. Fuego: Flatbreads are a must, then the back ribs, pastrami egg rolls, smores dessert, perfect date drink are good. (Update March 2017, the app chef and bbq chef isn't there anymore and the quality has been spotty from recent reviews.)

5. Zak The Baker. Menu changes too often to recommend stuff. Not Cholov Yisroel.

6. Kosh: Chocolate souffle and korean beef with extra sauce are good.

7. Rustiko: Spinach and Artichoke Dip, (Quinoa Salad is very good), (Pappardelle Mushroom if lunch), Mushrooms Panzerotti is an absolute must order only down side is it's a dinner only item. Oreo cheescake dessert but make sure it's fresh.

8. Harbour Grill: The Harbour Grill Filet or TheKing Reserve steaks are great. Supreme Burger is very good as well.

9. Pizza type options:

Foozo: Foozolis, the caprese foozoli with extra balsamic sauce and garlic aoili, their pastas are good as well.

Jerusalem Pizza: Best plain pie, get it fresh in store, coated fries good as well.

Lenny's pizza: Gan Eden Pie.

Also notable unique places are The Freeze which makes ices, serendipity makes ice cream (there is one next door to ZTB now), and Miami Beach Chocolates turtles and bark now also in Surfside!

  • Location: The value of a forum such as this one is not in that one can post a question and receive an answer, but in that the question has most likely been asked before, and the answer is available to him that will but only use the search function.
  • Programs: 1. Search on google. 2. Search in the right board of DDF with a general word or two. 3. Read the wiki. 4. Read the thread. 5. Ask away.

W worked well as well.  There is one stairwell that has alarms turned off for shabbos so u can open the door no problem.
Portugal at 33 and Collins was really close and convenient for davening - learned that the hard way one rabbi in south beach told me he's the closest gave me directions and didn't double check him walked for over an hour was a nasty lowball on his part.

across from Neiman Marcus and Saks. 5 minute walk to The Shul of Bal Harbour for Shabbos. Their Kiddush is usually enough for full Shabbos lunch. So half your day is already covered.

I plan on staying at the Grand Beach for a week and I am not renting a car because I find Uber to be cheaper and more convenient. I am having a babysitter come to my hotel room at night to watch the kids. She will only be there for 2-3 hours total per night. Any suggestions where she can park? I do not want to pay the exorbitant hotel parking fee.

I parked in The Shul parking lots went there. Tell her to leave a Chitas or sidur on the dash board to be safe ;)

I take no responsibility if she gets towed.

Any good rates at the grand beach? Assuming you are talking about the Surfside grand beach...

Lol, that's a cute idea, but i don't think I'd be comfortable having someone else's car there (She'd probably not be comfortable as well) Thanks though.

Yes, it's the Surfside beach property. I'm paying $270 per night including tax (not including resort fee) for 5 nights. Don't know if that is considered a good rate....

I've been towed from that lot. Though admittedly I didn't have a Chitas on the dash...

Did you park overnight?

And to be clear we are talking about the shul lot right not the city lot on the other side.

I parked there many times for short stays and never had a problem. But it's probably all about the Chitas ;)

@muttman honestly I don't think it's a problem for a few hours you can probably even ask the guard on duty if it's ok. But there is street parking and a city lot very close by that isn't so expensive that should work fine as well.

It was the lot on the right side, but you're right it was overnight. I didn't realize the conversation was over a couple of hours.

that's a good rate for cash. The SPG site shows $800+ for most rooms. It's tempting with points, but 35K points doesn't get me enough nights, yet -- I'd have to save for a while to compile enough pts for a 4 night stay there.

a $20 chitas is cheaper than 2 nights of parking. Plus it's smart to keep one handy your car anyway for mincha davening when traveling, and overall protection. An empty tefillin bag would be helpful, as well if that's what you prefer. It's more that the shul is usually fine with a few random, responsible people and cars, but as an overall safety/security measure they wouldn't want it open to the public, etc...
