JJ1000's list of top restaurants and dishes in Miami:

1. Backyard BBQ (New chef in mid 2017 totally new menu): Burnt ends, 2nd cut brisket, Dinosaur Rib, BBQ Sundae, BBQ Burger.

2. 26: Sushi pizza is  a must I prefer it with baked salmon, then the Passion Mojito, Sushi Teriyaki tempuraed, Cilantro Aioli dip and truffle fires, all of their soups are good. Miso Bass is incredible as well.

3. Harbour Bistro, new menus in early 2018: Chicken and waffles just perfect, duck a l'orange pot stickers, millionaire ramen, lamb shank, charcuterie platter if that's your thing... Also serving brunch, Chicken and waffles again, eggs Benedict with bacon on top,

4. Fuego: Flatbreads are a must, then the back ribs, pastrami egg rolls, smores dessert, perfect date drink are good. (Update March 2017, the app chef and bbq chef isn't there anymore and the quality has been spotty from recent reviews.)

5. Zak The Baker. Menu changes too often to recommend stuff. Not Cholov Yisroel.

6. Kosh: Chocolate souffle and korean beef with extra sauce are good.

7. Rustiko: Spinach and Artichoke Dip, (Quinoa Salad is very good), (Pappardelle Mushroom if lunch), Mushrooms Panzerotti is an absolute must order only down side is it's a dinner only item. Oreo cheescake dessert but make sure it's fresh.

8. Harbour Grill: The Harbour Grill Filet or TheKing Reserve steaks are great. Supreme Burger is very good as well.

9. Pizza type options:

Foozo: Foozolis, the caprese foozoli with extra balsamic sauce and garlic aoili, their pastas are good as well.

Jerusalem Pizza: Best plain pie, get it fresh in store, coated fries good as well.

Lenny's pizza: Gan Eden Pie.

Also notable unique places are The Freeze which makes ices, serendipity makes ice cream (there is one next door to ZTB now), and Miami Beach Chocolates turtles and bark now also in Surfside!

if you've stayed at the st Regis many times then why not bite the bullet and try the ritz once. Please report back!

LOL. I am considering doing that, although I would love to hear if some went there and it was great, or was below expectation...

st regis counts for SPG stays; that's part of my incentive so far when I book. That, and the fact that I can do cash&points sometimes.  :)

Any options for pre-paid Shabbos meals for families with little kids in Miami area that are more economical than $45-55 per child? Am I stuck with take-out?

So I asked this question earlier and diddnt get much feedback, but I have done a lot more research, and have narrowed down some options and could really use some help. BH there are so many options now in and around Miami Beach, so it's sooo difficult to decide! This is what I currently have worked out, but if someone can be more creative or knows of other options, please don't hesitate to help  :D :

I'm going for Shabbos (so 2 nights) and I would like to stay in a place that is high class, but has minimum shabbos issues such as automatic doors, auto in room lights etc.., card keys, and should be a relatively low floor, fridge in room and hotel should be walkable to a minyan.

This is what I'm working with:
~60k CSR UR points, and 21.5K SPG (64.5K Marriot)

Current options (in order of current preference):

Surfside:

Residence Inn: 35K per night (so I would do 64.5 Marriot + 5.5 UR)
Pros: beautiful new hotel, very shabbos friendly (except for front doors I think), near shuls and beach
Cons: not in Miami Beach (would really prefer to be there)

Miami Beach:

Grand Beach Hotel: book through the UR portal for 22.6K per night
Pros- apparently shabbos friendly and beautiful hotel.
Cons- a)very mixed reviews on all travel sites,  b) I would probably stay on the 7th floor as that's where there decent suites are and that's a lot of stairs, c) costs alot of points

Four Points Miami Beach: 10K per night (and would do whatever it takes to get in a suite cause I have no interest in staying in a tiny shabby room with no fridge)
Pros: great location and very shabbos friendly
Cons: stayed here last year and it was really out dated and almost gross.

So far the only other hotel we looked at and nixed was The Confidante. DW nixed it as the decor made it seem really not nice.

I don't know enough about many hotels that others have discussed here in order to consider them. For example, people mention the Fontainebleau as a shabbos friendly place but I have no way of knowing if the particular room I would book would be shabbos friendly (the shabbos friendly ones are privately owned?) I would also consider the Miami Beach Edition but have no idea if it is shabbos friendly at all (I doubt it is)

Please advise!

Please advise!
seems like you did your research now you have to make a decision.

Looking for an SPG/Marriott property that costs ~10k-12k per night near Miami beaches and kosher. Any ideas?

What is the time span for "yeshiva week"? Understood that Miami will be particularly full of New Yorkers this week, but will that be the case next week (Jan 30-Feb 4th) as well?
