JJ1000's list of top restaurants and dishes in Miami:

1. Backyard BBQ (New chef in mid 2017 totally new menu): Burnt ends, 2nd cut brisket, Dinosaur Rib, BBQ Sundae, BBQ Burger.

2. 26: Sushi pizza is  a must I prefer it with baked salmon, then the Passion Mojito, Sushi Teriyaki tempuraed, Cilantro Aioli dip and truffle fires, all of their soups are good. Miso Bass is incredible as well.

3. Harbour Bistro, new menus in early 2018: Chicken and waffles just perfect, duck a l'orange pot stickers, millionaire ramen, lamb shank, charcuterie platter if that's your thing... Also serving brunch, Chicken and waffles again, eggs Benedict with bacon on top,

4. Fuego: Flatbreads are a must, then the back ribs, pastrami egg rolls, smores dessert, perfect date drink are good. (Update March 2017, the app chef and bbq chef isn't there anymore and the quality has been spotty from recent reviews.)

5. Zak The Baker. Menu changes too often to recommend stuff. Not Cholov Yisroel.

6. Kosh: Chocolate souffle and korean beef with extra sauce are good.

7. Rustiko: Spinach and Artichoke Dip, (Quinoa Salad is very good), (Pappardelle Mushroom if lunch), Mushrooms Panzerotti is an absolute must order only down side is it's a dinner only item. Oreo cheescake dessert but make sure it's fresh.

8. Harbour Grill: The Harbour Grill Filet or TheKing Reserve steaks are great. Supreme Burger is very good as well.

9. Pizza type options:

Foozo: Foozolis, the caprese foozoli with extra balsamic sauce and garlic aoili, their pastas are good as well.

Jerusalem Pizza: Best plain pie, get it fresh in store, coated fries good as well.

Lenny's pizza: Gan Eden Pie.

Also notable unique places are The Freeze which makes ices, serendipity makes ice cream (there is one next door to ZTB now), and Miami Beach Chocolates turtles and bark now also in Surfside!

Meh before he left or after he left? Their food was simple enough, that you’d think they wouldn’t need a celebrity chef to maintain the same menu.

its not celebrity chef, its attention to detail an yoss has excelled at sandwhiches for years.

my reubens was just meh, nothing like the one I got a month ago.

yawn... its all under OK

I'm glad you know that in your sleep. Ask the store employees- they will clearly tell you it is as I said; the café is NOT under the OK. I actually asked to see the certificate of kashrus for the café. The employee went rummaging and brought me an 8 1/2x11 piece of paper that merely said the store is kosher thru Dec (I believe). It did not have ANY name of hashgocha, no Rabbi's name.

From store website-

"5) Is the BAKERY kosher? Yes, the Bakery is certified kosher.  The bread is parve/pas yisrael, and our pastries are all dairy/ NON CHOLOV YISRAEL under OK Kosher supervision. The coffee house in the bakery is not under the OK supervision but is certified by Dade Kosher."

Please let me know who Dade Kosher is.

However your original post implied that  a retail pastry from ZTB is NOT under OK, and that is not the case. It is.

The retail baked goods that I bought from ZTB ( little under a year ago, but after new location opened) we marked OK-D Chalav Stam, so unless something changed, the baked goods would be fine.

There was a minimal amount of items that were wrapped in plastic and had an OK-D tape seal on them. Everything else is open and mixed among everything else in the café. That seems like an issue if you do not know who the hashgocha on the café is. It's ot terribly different that taking a burger from a Meal Mark box, grilling it but being served in McDonalds. Of course the burger was kosher, but by the time it reached your mouth, it likely is not. It is an extreme example, but I am merely trying to make the point. I think one needs to trust the café kashrus to buy an item being sold in the café, unless it is wrapped/sealed of course.

The actual pastry is (at least the items I wanted to buy were- the employee actually showed me the certificate for those specific pastries). Please don't get me wrong; I never meant to pass judgment on anyone purchasing there and I may be entirely wrong. However, I personally felt uncomfortable buying pastries that are being sold - unwrapped- in a café that I have absolutely no idea whose supervision it is under.

My original post was merely to bring it to people's attention. I went in there because it was on a kosher app, I didn't see any certificate posted, I asked for one and the employee showed me a paper that simply said the store is kosher thru Dec (if I recall correctly). It had NO name of ANY Rabbi or Hashgocha name on it.

After leaving the store (without purchasing) I called one of the local hashgochos to clarify and the Rabbi spoke with didn't make me feel very comfortable. He told me that to his knowledge there is o real supervision by any hashgocha and that "Dade Kosher sort of does the owner a favor" since OK does not certify non CY establishments. I am simply repeating what was told to me. Again- o judgment here and chas v'shalom do I want to cause loss of a single dollars biz to the store- but please check it out yourself. I am not local there so I moved on, it won't be relevant to me until next year :-)

Ya probably not worth it. Even if it's even Uber is easier imo and if you are ok with pool it's very cheap.

Fwiw parking tickets are only $18, assuming they only give once per day it's not a bad option lol.

Got the same question. Staying in Key Biscayne, no kids. I would go to eat and shopping... Oh, and I'm landing in FLL.

Much tougher call, it's further from restaurants. St. Regis you can walk to lunch and dinner every day.
