JJ1000's list of top restaurants and dishes in Miami:

1. Backyard BBQ (New chef in mid 2017 totally new menu): Burnt ends, 2nd cut brisket, Dinosaur Rib, BBQ Sundae, BBQ Burger.

2. 26: Sushi pizza is  a must I prefer it with baked salmon, then the Passion Mojito, Sushi Teriyaki tempuraed, Cilantro Aioli dip and truffle fires, all of their soups are good. Miso Bass is incredible as well.

3. Harbour Bistro, new menus in early 2018: Chicken and waffles just perfect, duck a l'orange pot stickers, millionaire ramen, lamb shank, charcuterie platter if that's your thing... Also serving brunch, Chicken and waffles again, eggs Benedict with bacon on top,

4. Fuego: Flatbreads are a must, then the back ribs, pastrami egg rolls, smores dessert, perfect date drink are good. (Update March 2017, the app chef and bbq chef isn't there anymore and the quality has been spotty from recent reviews.)

5. Zak The Baker. Menu changes too often to recommend stuff. Not Cholov Yisroel.

6. Kosh: Chocolate souffle and korean beef with extra sauce are good.

7. Rustiko: Spinach and Artichoke Dip, (Quinoa Salad is very good), (Pappardelle Mushroom if lunch), Mushrooms Panzerotti is an absolute must order only down side is it's a dinner only item. Oreo cheescake dessert but make sure it's fresh.

8. Harbour Grill: The Harbour Grill Filet or TheKing Reserve steaks are great. Supreme Burger is very good as well.

9. Pizza type options:

Foozo: Foozolis, the caprese foozoli with extra balsamic sauce and garlic aoili, their pastas are good as well.

Jerusalem Pizza: Best plain pie, get it fresh in store, coated fries good as well.

Lenny's pizza: Gan Eden Pie.

Also notable unique places are The Freeze which makes ices, serendipity makes ice cream (there is one next door to ZTB now), and Miami Beach Chocolates turtles and bark now also in Surfside!

Hey everyone. I know people ask incessantly about the Turnberry and the Residence Inn Surfside for shabbos so here is another:
My wife and I are going memorial weekend, leaving our kids but taking an infant. I was about to book 4 days at Turnberry and then saw a bunch of negative Trip Advisor reviews saying the construction, noise level and management were horrendous during their recent stay. Can anyone corroborate that information? If we don't stay at Turnberry would Residence Inn be the only other shabbos friendly option? It seems that people primarily stay there for the "every room is a suite " perk but that wouldn't really be necessary for us. Not really looking to stay in Miami Miami on the beach.
Thanks for all your help on this thread!

Rustiko:

Spinach and Artichoke Dip, AMAZING, must order. It is served like a nacho dip with some sourcream and salsa on the side, the sauce itself though is incredible, it is served boiling, with pieces of artichoke inside:

Boiling:

Quinotto, fantastic dish, but saltier than I recall. Never knew quinoa could taste so good.

Pappardelle Mushroom Pizza, recommended by the waiter, had terrible crust (was almost soggy) and was very bland overall.

Oreo Cheesecake, one of my all time favorite cheesecakes. Just rich, creamy, and delicious. We were saving the crust for later and they tossed it when they cleared the table, they gave us a whole new piece for free.

Mushrooms Panzerotti (Filled with mushrooms, leeks and Swiss cheese in a red wine creamy sauce.), this was outrageously good! I was licking my plate clean with the delicious sauce. The fried leeks on top were a bit stringy to eat, but they added great flavor.

French onion soup, was very good needed cheese added and more pepper. This is the first item to come out and I was starving so I may have taken some bites before I took a pic ;)

Hot chocolate chip cookie, I heard amazing things about this cookie, but I didn’t care for it.

Had the Reuben and Corned Beef sandwiches at ZTB.

They were both good, but it wasn't anything to write home about.

They use pastrami in the reuben, and they really trim the pastrami dry, like no fat at all on it. Was too dry for my taste.

The corned beef had much more fat, and I liked it more.

But again it was good for a local lunch, not something I'd drive to Wynwood just to get.

I was cringing reading this. I had the reuben before Pesach & I loved it. I’m much more of a real food than burger, schnitzel… type of guy so it was right up my alley. Just yesterday I got really in the mood of it & almost posted on this thread asking if there’s anybody coming to Israel who wouldn’t mind bringing it for me.  ;D

I've had my fair share of pastrami, and that pastrami was dry. They said they got complaints about it being too fatty so they trim it down as much as they can.

Interesting. I don’t remember it being dry.

I found ZTB pastrami too fatty last time. Maybe it's just a matter of what cut you got.

If one eats Chalav Stam, pairing ZTB with the deli makes a trip to Wynwood worth it.

Why would you book a flight before confirming hotel?

The Turnberry is a wonderful option for Shabos but from what I heard the main pool is closed so if it’s important to you it might not be the best option. I was there during construction and they gave me a room that wasn’t facing that part and we couldn’t tell that there was anything going on.

ummm....HELPPP..

My wife and I booked tickets to MIA specifically because we wanted to go to the St Regis Bal Harbor. They have no points availability and would not budge! any advice?? (I am just a regular preferred member, but they said they wouldnt budge even for a platinum  :-\ )
Called the hotel direct? Email the general manager?

Or try a different hotel like the Ritz or W South Beach.

Looking to go out Thursday night with a large group of 12, is Fuego my best meat option just in terms of space? Really would like to go to backyard bbq but would probably be very crowded and unpleasant for that amount of ppl. Thoughts?

http://nomamiami.com/ has a really nice semi private table that could fit all 12, if you call and ask to reserve the large table in the back, if you are looking for a place just for space, that's a great option.

Backyard will depend what time you go, I don't think they are busy nowadays like they were a couple months ago, and you can ask what time they slow down, either before or after typical dinner rush and they'll put tables together for you.

Yup, rolling the dice going, hoping they improved since opening week.

26 can probably accommodate a big party as well.

Backyard has substantially better food but not an upscale place.
