JJ1000's list of top restaurants and dishes in Miami:

1. Backyard BBQ (New chef in mid 2017 totally new menu): Burnt ends, 2nd cut brisket, Dinosaur Rib, BBQ Sundae, BBQ Burger.

2. 26: Sushi pizza is  a must I prefer it with baked salmon, then the Passion Mojito, Sushi Teriyaki tempuraed, Cilantro Aioli dip and truffle fires, all of their soups are good. Miso Bass is incredible as well.

3. Harbour Bistro, new menus in early 2018: Chicken and waffles just perfect, duck a l'orange pot stickers, millionaire ramen, lamb shank, charcuterie platter if that's your thing... Also serving brunch, Chicken and waffles again, eggs Benedict with bacon on top,

4. Fuego: Flatbreads are a must, then the back ribs, pastrami egg rolls, smores dessert, perfect date drink are good. (Update March 2017, the app chef and bbq chef isn't there anymore and the quality has been spotty from recent reviews.)

5. Zak The Baker. Menu changes too often to recommend stuff. Not Cholov Yisroel.

6. Kosh: Chocolate souffle and korean beef with extra sauce are good.

7. Rustiko: Spinach and Artichoke Dip, (Quinoa Salad is very good), (Pappardelle Mushroom if lunch), Mushrooms Panzerotti is an absolute must order only down side is it's a dinner only item. Oreo cheescake dessert but make sure it's fresh.

8. Harbour Grill: The Harbour Grill Filet or TheKing Reserve steaks are great. Supreme Burger is very good as well.

9. Pizza type options:

Foozo: Foozolis, the caprese foozoli with extra balsamic sauce and garlic aoili, their pastas are good as well.

Jerusalem Pizza: Best plain pie, get it fresh in store, coated fries good as well.

Lenny's pizza: Gan Eden Pie.

Also notable unique places are The Freeze which makes ices, serendipity makes ice cream (there is one next door to ZTB now), and Miami Beach Chocolates turtles and bark now also in Surfside!

For those of you that had been in either/both Shabbat diner @ Chabad
(Chabad of South Beach  320 meridian ave /Chabad of Lincoln Road, 669 Lincoln)
Which one provide a better meal/atmosphere?
Any other option for Early November around this area?

Thanks

I'm asking again. I've made a correction to the address.
Any experience with these 2 or any other options around for Shabbat diner/lunch?

Many thanks!!

I've been to NoMa a few times since they opened and have had varying experiences. The first time I went with Dan when they first opened and the service/food was pretty awful. I've been back twice since and had an enjoyable experience. Last night topped them all and I had my best restaurant experience period, in a long time. Our waitress was great and the food was unique and delicious!

Recently they picked up David Benrey (the former executive chef at Harbour Grill), so I wanted to check out what he was able to add.

He will be updating the menu soon, so not all of the foods below are available on the menu yet.

NoMa has a huge bar area, and while I haven't been blown away by any of the drinks I've gotten here (26, Fuego, and Backyard all have better drinks IMO) but we were celebrating a birthday so we ordered a couple drinks.

We got on a beach in Tel Aviv and A grapefruit mint drink $12/each:

The mint drink was supposed to come with Arak which I despise, so I had them replace it with some Bacardi instead. Unfortunately the bar tender missed that and sent it out with Arak inside, I almost puked taking that first sip. They promptly replaced it and the new drink was fine.

For apps we started with their incredible ARANCINI $14:

The regular arancini comes with a marinara sauce underneath, but David used more of a Alfredo sauce and it was great. The fried slices of garlic places on the top of each ball are what dreams are made of. Such a great bite. (I liked it as well with marinara sauce, you can always ask for some on the side to try it with both).

Next we ordered the fried ravioli, which the chef informed us wasn't their best item and will be taken off the new menu, instead he said he would prepare something special for us.

And special it was!

Handmade ravioli $18:

Everything on this dish was handmade, from the ravili pasta, to the ricotta cheese mix inside, the yummy cheese strips sticking out, and most notably the best marinara sauce I have ever had. I love black pepper and that shines in this sauce. The chef put black peppers into a pan and sautes them until a potent oil comes out he then creates a wine reduction with those oils and finally adds his marinara sauce to the mix. All said and done it is a unique and delicious black pepper marinara sauce I couldn't get enough of.

For our main we ordered one of the most unique items on the menu, their BRUL…ED PEAR Pizza $16:

I was honestly nervous about ordering this, but we decided to go ahead after the waitress gave a glowing recommendation when we asked about it.

The pizza was fantastic. The pears were delicious, and the arugula with balsamic vinegar on top really put the flavor over the top. The dough was also nice, it was crisp, but not too thin. Really delicious pizza. Of course nothing like a traditional pizza, but it just works.

We had started the evening at 26 where we got the always amazing sushi pizza (with cooked salmon) and sake teriyaki roll fully tempura'd along with delicious home made guacamole and chips. So we weren't too hungry going to NoMa. At this point we ordered some dessert.

We went with the baked cheesecake:

Again this is a new dish created by David, with everything made in house.

The plate was loaded with goodies. Our favorite was the chocolate bark with rice crispries and marzipan inside. I like banana in general and enjoyed the banana ice cream. The cheesecake was more cake like than the typical creamy cheesecake. They switch up the toppings without notice it seems, we had a blueberry topping which was yummy.

All in all, I am super excited for the new menu to be released and can't wait to try some more of David's creations. As you may have noticed his plates are truly a work of art.

Anybody know of a good Airbnb/vrbo anywhere in south Florida for 2 adults and 4 kids? Iíve done quite a bit of searching on their sites but wanted to see if anyone had personal experience with any. If not, any good hotel suites that donít cost a fortune (not using points)?

Thanks!

I've been to NoMa a few times....

We went with friends between RH and YK and had a great time as well.  I ordered the BRUL…ED PEAR Pizza  for the table and all enjoyed (reminds me of the Basil Bosc Pear, Arugula, Blue Cheese Pizza, but a bit more mild) They also provide free valet parking, which I thought was classy.

Big blow for HG. Really miss the old HG Bistro chef. Noma has potential but service is TERRIBLE!!

MUCH Smarter would be to offer a bar menu for patrons waiting for a table.

This way bar can be apps, tables apps/mains.

Has anybody been to both the Ritz Carlton and St. Regis Bal Harbour that can say if one is way better than the other?

My preference would generally be to stay at the St. Regis (it looks a bit more upscale, is closer to the Shul and Dan and everyone seem to love it)  :) but the Ritz looks like it has a lot more suites and also the cost difference for the suites there is not that much.  I'm planning to book on points, am only SPG gold but would really prefer a suite.  Would there even be a possiblity of a suite upgrade at the St. Regis as only gold?  Also, even if I pay to upgrade I figured it would be a lot less at the Ritz (looks like a $200 difference between base room and a nice 1 brm suite whereas the price difference at the St. Regis is over a grand).  Anybody paid for a suite upgrade at either place and can comment on the price?

It seems like people generally pick the St. Regis because of the location (and probably in the past just because SPG was a better program) but we are five in my family (all school aged kids not babies) and since I only have points for one room, I really need the suite.

Thanks in advance for any help or advice!

@Denverite Did you end up going to the St. Regis, and if yes, were you able to get an upgrade?

Big blow for HG. Really miss the old HG Bistro chef. Noma has potential but service is TERRIBLE!!

MUCH Smarter would be to offer a bar menu for patrons waiting for a table.

This way bar can be apps, tables apps/mains.
When did you go to NoMa? My service was fantastic.

Is there anywhere in the Miami area to rent a private pool for the day or somewhere to get a private beach?
