JJ1000's list of top restaurants and dishes in Miami:

1. Backyard BBQ (New chef in mid 2017 totally new menu): Burnt ends, 2nd cut brisket, Dinosaur Rib, BBQ Sundae, BBQ Burger.

2. 26: Sushi pizza is  a must I prefer it with baked salmon, then the Passion Mojito, Sushi Teriyaki tempuraed, Cilantro Aioli dip and truffle fires, all of their soups are good. Miso Bass is incredible as well.

3. Harbour Bistro, new menus in early 2018: Chicken and waffles just perfect, duck a l'orange pot stickers, millionaire ramen, lamb shank, charcuterie platter if that's your thing... Also serving brunch, Chicken and waffles again, eggs Benedict with bacon on top,

4. Fuego: Flatbreads are a must, then the back ribs, pastrami egg rolls, smores dessert, perfect date drink are good. (Update March 2017, the app chef and bbq chef isn't there anymore and the quality has been spotty from recent reviews.)

5. Zak The Baker. Menu changes too often to recommend stuff. Not Cholov Yisroel.

6. Kosh: Chocolate souffle and korean beef with extra sauce are good.

7. Rustiko: Spinach and Artichoke Dip, (Quinoa Salad is very good), (Pappardelle Mushroom if lunch), Mushrooms Panzerotti is an absolute must order only down side is it's a dinner only item. Oreo cheescake dessert but make sure it's fresh.

8. Harbour Grill: The Harbour Grill Filet or TheKing Reserve steaks are great. Supreme Burger is very good as well.

9. Pizza type options:

Foozo: Foozolis, the caprese foozoli with extra balsamic sauce and garlic aoili, their pastas are good as well.

Jerusalem Pizza: Best plain pie, get it fresh in store, coated fries good as well.

Lenny's pizza: Gan Eden Pie.

Also notable unique places are The Freeze which makes ices, serendipity makes ice cream (there is one next door to ZTB now), and Miami Beach Chocolates turtles and bark now also in Surfside!

We are going the first week of February and staying in Surfside. Will it still be as crazy as the main "Yeshiva week" or do things quiet down somewhat?

It's just the 2 of us and a one-year old, and I've scrolled through over 50 pages looking for info but can't find it, specifically with regards to strollers.

1) Since the boardwalk isn't in Surfside, is it pointless to go to the beach there because of the baby and we should instead uber to areas that we can walk around?
2) Are there any restaurants that make sense, or are they all too jam packed? We have that annoying stroller issue once again.
3) What about restaurants that have outdoor seating areas? Would that be better?
4) If we can't actually go eat in a restaurant, that's fine honestly. Are those places manageable if we call in an order and go to pick it up?
5) During the busier weeks, do you end up waiting for hours even for ubereats? We are totally fine with just ordering food and not physically eating there.
6) Any other advice related to South Florida with a baby would be most appreciated!!
Surfside has a beach walkway.

Sounds like if you invest in a $50 umbrella stroller all your other problems will be solved.

My guess is that it was due to Chalav Stam. The OK only certifies C"S if it's considered Wholesale. In the past, they considered the baked goods wholesale, and notably, didn't certify the small coffee bar attached to the bakery (that was under Dade Kosher, not to be confused with the Vaad, K(D)M). Now that there is a full cafe in the bakery, they likely needed a Hechsher for that cafe that was more recognizable, hence they needed to leave the OK who wouldn't certify the cafe, which serves Zaks C"S pastries.

Why they didn't then go to KDM is a mystery, but it is logical that they dropped OK.
(beyond this decent insight)

Anybody staying in Surfside next week and planning on going to the community center (i.e. free waterpark)? We have gone in the past and our kids (4 & 2) love it.

Our problem is that we are technically staying in Bay Harbor and they won't let us in. We need to go as someone's guest. Anybody want to take us  :D

How would they know that you aren’t staying in Surfside area?

(beyond this decent insight)
I don't know the hashkacha, but when I go there for bread, it's still has oFrum looking people there. I think if you eat OU-D in general it's fine.  But I take no responsibility...

what's the deal with Zak's new hashgacha, Chai Kosher? any reason not to rely on it? https://zakthebaker.com/kosher/

I don't know the hashkacha,
This sounds like a good reason not to rely on it.

Does anyone know anyone in Miami Beach (anywhere on Collins between 30th - 60th) that rents out their private pool? I'm willing to pay to be able to use someone's pool.

Or, does anyone know anyone who has access to a pool that has separate men's and women's hours, and can bring guests? Again, I'm willing to pay.

Thanks in advance.

However, what about Kosher Parve breads/Challahs for Shabbos?

This sounds like a good reason not to rely on it.
It's not a FL based hagacha.

However, what about Kosher Parve breads/Challahs for Shabbos?

Been discussed ad nauseum.

Breads and challah are ok pareve.

Food Is chai kosher, the pastries are cholov Stam. They claim that the dairy food uses cy ingredients. But the kitchen is cholov Stam so no go for many.

There are 2 mashgichim there and all greens are washed and checked. Challah is taken and a Shomer Shabbat Jew lights the fires.

All the more reason to say

It is very simple. How can someone rely on a hechsher they know nothing about?

The ZTB website makes no mention of bread being under the OK, just Chai Kosher.

Also, how could the OK take responsibility that the breads truly don't come in contact with of the equipment used for the dairy/Chai-k stuff?

Go in and see for yourself... Or trust me, I've been there 250+ times.

The food kitchen has nothing to do with the bread. What's so hard to grasp?

Have you ever been to milk Street Cafe in Boston they have both meat and dairy kitchen in the same restaurant
