JJ1000's list of top restaurants and dishes in Miami:

1. Backyard BBQ (New chef in mid 2017 totally new menu): Burnt ends, 2nd cut brisket, Dinosaur Rib, BBQ Sundae, BBQ Burger.

2. 26: Sushi pizza is  a must I prefer it with baked salmon, then the Passion Mojito, Sushi Teriyaki tempuraed, Cilantro Aioli dip and truffle fires, all of their soups are good. Miso Bass is incredible as well.

3. Harbour Bistro, new menus in early 2018: Chicken and waffles just perfect, duck a l'orange pot stickers, millionaire ramen, lamb shank, charcuterie platter if that's your thing... Also serving brunch, Chicken and waffles again, eggs Benedict with bacon on top,

4. Fuego: Flatbreads are a must, then the back ribs, pastrami egg rolls, smores dessert, perfect date drink are good. (Update March 2017, the app chef and bbq chef isn't there anymore and the quality has been spotty from recent reviews.)

5. Zak The Baker. Menu changes too often to recommend stuff. Not Cholov Yisroel.

6. Kosh: Chocolate souffle and korean beef with extra sauce are good.

7. Rustiko: Spinach and Artichoke Dip, (Quinoa Salad is very good), (Pappardelle Mushroom if lunch), Mushrooms Panzerotti is an absolute must order only down side is it's a dinner only item. Oreo cheescake dessert but make sure it's fresh.

8. Harbour Grill: The Harbour Grill Filet or TheKing Reserve steaks are great. Supreme Burger is very good as well.

9. Pizza type options:

Foozo: Foozolis, the caprese foozoli with extra balsamic sauce and garlic aoili, their pastas are good as well.

Jerusalem Pizza: Best plain pie, get it fresh in store, coated fries good as well.

Lenny's pizza: Gan Eden Pie.

Also notable unique places are The Freeze which makes ices, serendipity makes ice cream (there is one next door to ZTB now), and Miami Beach Chocolates turtles and bark now also in Surfside!

Ate at Fuego tonight. Service was excellent, and the restaurant had great vibes.

Appetizers:
Pulled brisket flatbread: good flavors, right amount of spice, but the meat itself was really dry. The bread itself is delicious. 6.5/10
Smoked flatbread: significantly better than the pulled brisket one. Nothing bad to say about this one. 9/10
Smoked sausage baked beans: not really sure how this costs $19 - it's basically a small portion of soup with some store-bought chips and guac on the side. 4/10.

Mains:
Pulled beef burger: huge burger; the person who ordered couldn't finish it. The fries are excellent. 8/10
Flatiron steak: decent size steak. Prepared very well. 8/10
Fuego salad: pretty basic, but good dressing. Not sure why this was ordered. 5/10.

Drinks:
Kabo: Really delicious. If you can swallow paying $15 for a drink, this one is the one to get. 8/10

Dessert:
S'mores: Honestly this was a big disappointment... it's just average pareve ice cream with graham cracker powder, chocolate sauce, and store-bought mini marshmallows. Didn't even seem like the fudge was heated up. Basically a $12 scoop of ice cream. 4/10

Just cancelled my reservations for January 29 to February 4 At Sun Harbor boutique Hotel next to the shul in surfside.  Price was very reasonable for this weekend (Super Bowl)but our plans changed.  I am posting  this in case someone needs to reserve, they should call the hotel and see if it’s available.

Meat bar is getting confused ratings. I had a great lunch there and great dinner.

I know that I'm spoiled, I do pay the same prices as others but I get incidentals waived and I know the owners and staff etc.

Foozo has been amazingly consistent since opening. The nmb / Aventura location has the wood fire oven and I prefer that to Surfside.

Hadekel1 is unique and incredibly authentic. It's like chaba or such in Jerusalem . Shakshuka with zatar bread, ziva, sabich yumm and Sunday brunch.

Krudo remains my absolute favorite Miami establishment.

Sardina in hallendale is amazing

I love the carrot, healthy, delicious and cheap.

Zak is pretty boring to me these days honestly, unless I'm going for challa or have a legit reason to be in the area, pass

Backyard is incredible but it's not cheap , but it's both awesome and unique. Some people can't see spending big $$ on que.. to each their own.

Harbor grill has some really new unique dishes I'm told, foie gras and wagyu dumplings, beef fillet wrapped in bacon.

I look forward to streets opening.

Harbor bistro raised prices on the ramen bowls and sadly that will be the end of it for me. When it was a $19 after tax indulgence it was ok.. no way I'm paying $24.

I was talking to @jj1000  that basically the places I as a local eat at, are those with no service charges, ideally not in Surfside (9% tax vs 7% elsewhere ) and free parking.

All that can mean $10 difference on your lunch.

I did go to noma with friends, they loved but I was unimpressed and $140 for lunch for 3?!? Meh

Shirin glatt was very good! I really love that style of bukharian food

I'm drinking what in my opinion is the best cold brew in South Florida. I thought I'd make a list of awesome coffee shops

These are places that will appeal to coffee nuts, if you want a vanilla soy latte, go to Starbucks.

Panther coffee is the absolute King. They have locations in wynwood, mimo, little Haiti, Miami Beach and coconut Grove.

The founding location is in wynwood but I prefer the mimo vibe and decor plus it's closer.

Their everything rocks, but I go for pour over
If you do cholov Stam, they get fresh pastries from Zak.

Vice City bean is in Edgewater near wynwood and another in the citadel in El portal where I'm sitting now.

The citadel is my own little sanctuary where I go for coffee and pester the guy from society BBQ to do a kosher pop up ;)

It's a food court that is a restored bank from the 1940's. Really sweet. There's a bar downstairs and on the rooftop.

In the mezzanine now, there's a free art gallery

All day coffee in mid Town is good but I'm not crazy about it.

Imperial Moto coffee is really cool in like liberty city lol it's a mix coffee, motorcycle shop and barbershop..

Eternity coffee roasters in downtown was ok.

There's a few more places I need to try.

That's it for Dade county. I'll get to Broward one day.

And maybe all the beer brewries here

If staying near the airport on a Thursday night and then driving to the Keys on Friday morning, what is least "out of the way" Kosher supermarket that will have ready made food for Shabbos? I think I asked this awhile and was given the answer of Kosher Kingdom but it's 1/2 hour each way, is anything else closer? Airport to Key West is 3 1/2 hours, Kosher Kingdom to Key West is 4 hours (assuming little traffic). Thanks.

You can go to Kastners on 41st st - with normal traffic it is less than 15 minutes. There are a couple of other options there but this one is one stop for everything.

Thanks, so Miami Beach 41st st area is probably my best bet for closest to Key West I assume.

It's all relevant. Given the distance to key West it's not much.

Correct but 15 minutes each way is still 1/2 hour saved on a short winter Friday so I'll take it.

Sorry- looking for a place I can use points for a 3 bedroom suite in south Florida?

Marriott’s Villas at Doral are all 2brm suites as their base units (it’s a timeshare property) and they sleep 8 (1brm with a King, 2nd with a Queen and a sleeper sofa, a 2nd sleeper sofa in the living room and they’d give you a crib if needed too). They also have full kitchens.  If that unit isn’t big enough or enough beds you can probably get two units there for less than a standard room elsewhere. I’ve seen it for 27.5k a night or only 22k a night with 5th night free.  I’ve seen peak dates at 32.5k and 37.5k points, so still very reasonable.  They also have free parking, no resort fees and access to the Trump Doral resort next door and all their pools (these perks and lack of fees are why I love staying at timeshares).  If you don’t need to be on the beach, it’s a smokin’ deal for families.
