Has anyone done the everglades airboat tours? How loud are they? Have a 2 year old who doesn't love loud noises but some of the tours offer ear protection. Is that enough?

I am based in Hollywood but have a car so can really go to any tour.

Very noisy.

Did the 1 hour tour from Everglades Holiday Park. It's about half hour from Hollywood. Picked this tour because it was a full hour boat ride and the boats are covered so you don't bake in the sun. Printed a coupon I found online to knock a few bucks off the cost. The tour itself is a bit underwhelming. We saw 2 alligators and a ton of birds. It only gets very loud when the captain goes very fast which happened about 4 times but he warns you beforehand. Bought earplugs before the tour which helped tremendously.

There was also a 20 min alligator show which was pretty cool. Lots of corny jokes and showing off some alligator tricks. Show was under a tent so weren't under the sun. Then got to hold and take a picture with a baby alligator.

My 4 kids (12 years old and under) all enjoyed. My wife was bored. I thought it was ok but definitely something you only do once.

Once we biked in the park (national park?) and saw about 100 alligators, some mozying across the path. If you like biking definitely a good option.

Is there a shuttle/bus that goes from Boca area to Surfside? Or any cheap option of transportation for a day?

Alas no tri rail is semi ok but major pain to get inland.

Worst part of South Florida .. is the lack of transportation

Now, can anyone explain why they compete with AA in MIA instead of flying from FLL? Kenny and Omry loved it when I first suggested that.

Yes.
LY has a B6 codeshare, which has tons of FLL feed. I doubt LY is getting any feed in MIA from AA. That feed would just connect to TLV on AA.

There is an entire continent without direct service to TLV feeding through MIA. Almost anything that's going via FLL can just as easily go via NYC or BOS.

1. That continent mostly can't get into the US (at least not via the air), so they secure transit via Europe, Canada, UAE, or Brazil.
2. For the ones that can enter the US, they're nearly all flying on AA and will book AA for the journey.
