JJ1000's list of top restaurants and dishes in Miami:

1. Backyard BBQ (New chef in mid 2017 totally new menu): Burnt ends, 2nd cut brisket, Dinosaur Rib, BBQ Sundae, BBQ Burger.

2. 26: Sushi pizza is  a must I prefer it with baked salmon, then the Passion Mojito, Sushi Teriyaki tempuraed, Cilantro Aioli dip and truffle fires, all of their soups are good. Miso Bass is incredible as well.

3. Harbour Bistro, new menus in early 2018: Chicken and waffles just perfect, duck a l'orange pot stickers, millionaire ramen, lamb shank, charcuterie platter if that's your thing... Also serving brunch, Chicken and waffles again, eggs Benedict with bacon on top,

4. Fuego: Flatbreads are a must, then the back ribs, pastrami egg rolls, smores dessert, perfect date drink are good. (Update March 2017, the app chef and bbq chef isn't there anymore and the quality has been spotty from recent reviews.)

5. Zak The Baker. Menu changes too often to recommend stuff. Not Cholov Yisroel.

6. Kosh: Chocolate souffle and korean beef with extra sauce are good.

7. Rustiko: Spinach and Artichoke Dip, (Quinoa Salad is very good), (Pappardelle Mushroom if lunch), Mushrooms Panzerotti is an absolute must order only down side is it's a dinner only item. Oreo cheescake dessert but make sure it's fresh.

8. Harbour Grill: The Harbour Grill Filet or TheKing Reserve steaks are great. Supreme Burger is very good as well.

9. Pizza type options:

Foozo: Foozolis, the caprese foozoli with extra balsamic sauce and garlic aoili, their pastas are good as well.

Jerusalem Pizza: Best plain pie, get it fresh in store, coated fries good as well.

Lenny's pizza: Gan Eden Pie.

Also notable unique places are The Freeze which makes ices, serendipity makes ice cream (there is one next door to ZTB now), and Miami Beach Chocolates turtles and bark now also in Surfside!

Have you been to HG and Rare?
Yes & in my opinion Grill Time is better. I've sent many people their way & all came back raving (people that are used to NYC food). You owe it to them to give it another shot.
You also cannot compare how much more generous GT is from when you sit down & sample the salads, the side dishes... through desert.

Rare or EF? Huh?
Either way both of those come before HoD.  I grilled some jack's gourmet hot itlalian dogs with sauteed onions last night and it was way better than HoD.
House of dog is not in the league of Rare or Grill time. It's like comparing Kosher delight to Abigael's

I think I'll take you up on that. Will let you know how it goes.
If you go to China Bistro, they have very good (finger licking) ribs. Their lettuce wrap which is an appetizer is unique & delicious. They also have beef & / or / combo chicken magnolian, very good.
Don't forget to get the free soda refills :)

Who compared it ??????????????????????????????????????
Even mentioning both establishments in the same sentence is wrong :)
You have to have to be the right type of person (especially going with your wife) eating in HOD, with the menu, bar like setting w' stools. But hey, each to their own.

neither rare, gt or hg offer a menu not seen elsewhere.

IME HoD was really good! Got burgers not dogs, and they were the best I ever had.
Rare was incredible, IMO it competes w any steakhouse in NYC, even Mikes.
Grill Time doesn't even come Remotely close! Food was bland. (Baby chicken and Beef Skewers)

Euro Fusion was an lackluster experience for me, but to be fair I got the Eggplant Parmesan w/o the Parmesan. The blooming onion was pretty good, but I think Dougies (Catskills) sauce is better.

Went in January. House of Dogs had great Hamburgers and Hot dogs were good. Wait time was LOOOONG
Schakolad was great! Mentioned I found him on Kosher GPS app and name dropped Dans Deals and I was good to go!
Disappointed with ShemTovs. Got Fish and Chips and hardly any fish and too much chips. Don't remember what else we got there.
Holy Bagels and Pizza was delicious. Not near hotels, we went special but really good food and large selection. Got Fish Tacos that were awesome.
Euro Fusion was excellent and even though we were there for Brunch, spouse was able to order Sea bass from dinner menu.
17 Sushi was also tasty. The place is small but food was good. Had Cheese quesadilla for the table, Grilled salmon wrap was good and spouse had cheese ravioli that was also good. They have a Restaraunt.com coupon and discount on Kosher GPS depending on what you order.
Grill time had delicious food. They give a sampling of different salads after you order. Spouse had Baby Lamb spare ribs that were great. I tasted the sauce. We were warned they were fatty but spouse didn't mind. And had something from the grill - don't remember but I remember it was good. Also brought portions of all the side dishes.
Went to Tasty for brunch. Typical Bagel, Lox and CC
Lastly we went to Rare and I was disappointed. The ambiance is nice. We started with sliders that were ok. We then ordered The Black Angus Steak with the Rosmary demigaze sauce. I happen to make very good steak at home on the grill so I felt this was nothing special. The sauce with it was tasty. But for that price ($45 each) not worth it. (But I enjoy going to Le Marais much better) We also shared Truffle mashed Potatoes that we really didn't need because the steak came with 2 or 3 tater tots which would have been fine, but waiter said we should order so we did. (BTW 18% tip was included so he probably wanted us to order alot to get more $$) also had Fruity vodka drink that was very small but very $$$. Dessert was some kind of chocolate and peanut butter thing with Parve Ice cream which tasted very parve. Everyone said to go with the S'mores, but the idea of paying $18 for smore's that I can make seemed crazy. but they must do it differently. I probably should have gotten Pomegranate Chicken instead of the steak.
Stayed at 4 Points. First room was awful - musty and bathroom door stuck and horrible view. My upgraded room wasn't available the first night as they told me they were over booked. Spoke to manager who was very nice and helpful and second night switched to larger room ocean view. MUCH BETTER.
We always found parking on street. Some places have meters that you can prepay the night before through the next morning. Otherwise you have to feed meter at 8.

Nice report!
Can you give an exact location example of where you can feed the meters the night before they take affect the next morning? Thanks

I posted in one of the Hyatt threads, but may get an answer here. Does anyone know if there is street parking near the
Hyatt Coral Gables?

Why don't you take a walk around it with Google Streetview?

It's at the meters that you get a ticket from. Also you have to feed it before 6 PM otherwise if you feed it after 6 PM it says you don't need to feed the meter at this hour. Don't remember  where they were. Not too many of them but if you get meter starting at 8 get up at 7:30 throw on some clothes and run out and feed the meter till you want to leave. It's not like you have to move your car at that hour.

Rare or EF? Huh?
Either way both of those come before HoD.  I grilled some jack's gourmet hot itlalian dogs with sauteed onions last night and it was way better than HoD.

Have a thing for HoD. Must try it.

To which I said is very sad...

At any rate you really think GT and HG are better than Rare?
Just like you had a bad experience in GT and HG I had a very bad experience in Rare. Next time I am there I will try it again.

Does HG still charge the mandatory 18% tip with the new 2014 tax laws meant to end that practice?
Be sure to watch out as they also leave the tip line blank on the CC slip and have recommended tips listed even though they already put the tip into the bill.

Then again this is the same place that charges 18% tip by default on pickup orders, lies about frozen non-homemade food, and stacks their tables so that you're practically eating on top of strangers.
There are plenty of restaurants like that (PG comes to mind)

I was not a big fan of HOD, but I can't judge because I'm not a huge burger or hot dog guy.

I'm not a PG fan either.
If I wanted a group dinner I'd crash a wedding.
