So apparently if u are on a share everything plan with 10gb+ you can get dirt cheap/free tablets. I have not confirmed this but a rep in the store said if you buy a tablet on edge you get the same $25 discount per line. So if you add a line it costs $10 for line access plus the cost of the device per month. So for example for this ipad mini it would cost $13 per month for the phone plus $10 for line access -$25 discount = you make $2 to get a tablet.
