Getting AMEX cards twice in lifetime
« on: September 17, 2014, 05:27:38 PM »
I have been using an ITIN to get credit cards because I'm not a citizen/ permanent resident. Once I get a SSN eventually, I can probably get all the amex sign up bonuses a second time because there's no file of me having amex under the SSN since I used ITIN.  Do you think it'll still work even if I merge my credit reports from the ITIN to the SSN?

Your ITIN may become your SSN.

Don't know that they will assign a new number...

A SSN cannot start with a 9. I believe you're incorrect

You should be able to get the bonuses again.

I have been through the process, you do get a ssn which is a different number than your itin. But I have applied for cards with my itin, and when I requested a cr with my ssn I see all my cards on there even the ones I applied for with my itin, so I guess they transfer your itin info to your ssn. So not sure you'd be able to get double bonuses
