Israel over new years, is it worth it (weather wise) with kids
« on: September 20, 2014, 02:54:21 PM »
I have a break over new years and I'm considering flying to israel with fam (kids aged 1-8)

I would probably stay half in Jerusalem or maybe even all the time, rent an apt from airbnb..

Just wondering what I can expect this time of year, weather seems pretty cold, is it still worth going then? Are there any good activities for younger kids?

Is it worth going to Eilat? is swimming an option this time of year?

Thank you!

Eilat for what? If for the beaches, they suck! If for anything else its probably not worth your time. It is quite possibly the most overrated place in Israel.

Eilat doesn't have nice beaches, but some nice hotels with kids. I have been a few times in Feb and bh always had nice weather. I have friends that go dec new year and you need to be lucky. Some times they have 28 degrees and sun, some times 13 and cloud...
I would not plan it, but check the weather short hand before...

Thing is right now tickets are affordable as it gets closer it will more then double.. anything to do in bad weather or is it a waste of time?

If Eilat I'll only want a hotel which has some heated pools for the kids...

Its still very warm here (at least in TLV). I plan on going swimming during holidays myself. I went swimming last weekend. Yesterday was "cold", like, 80.

Besides that Israel is always a great place to come to, no matter what the weather. And the weather here is never that cold like in NY.
