Wrong on this one.
Perhaps, but srap's point still stands. I'm in complete agreement.

When you get off the bus you thank the driver. When someone does you a service, even if you are paying them, you still owe them thanks.

Kal V'Chomer someone like Dan who goes above and beyond and has helped all of us so much.

Thank you Dan and all of your followers that took the time to help me. Dan, you opened my eyes to the big world that's out there ready for the taking and i really appreciate it.

every one of you that i pm'd with were/are also a huge help. you deserve credit as well.

as for the links- i don't have the patience to constantly search for the websites so i made bookmarks for the ones i use the most (amazon, zappos, gap, etc.)

and whomever it was that compared thanking Dan to thanking Hashem- way out of line, dude...

I like having a hobby that makes me money; points that I can use to fly myself and my family where we want to go for little or cost.  I like seeing things on sale that I can get a good buy on - even things I don't really need.  I even like seeing things on the site I don't want to buy, so I know I'm not like Pavlov's dog that has to buy everything Dan tells us about.
I like the site.  I support the site by using his cc links and others.
I like DDF.  It gives me entertainment and an on-line 'community'.

So I appreciate that Dan makes a living this way or I wouldn't have those things.
Thanks, Dan.  Ksiva v'chasima tova.
+1!

Forum policy discussion can be done via PM. But odds are better than not that if every other deals forums has the same rules than it'll be the same here.

I love the site, and think the forums are invaluable....However, IMHO, thanking Dan is like thanking Chase for paying you interest on your savings account or target for selling you diapers. Its his job, his livelehood and how he (I assume) supports his family.

Just seems a little funny to me that all. To clarify, not criticizing, Dan seems like a tremendous guy and I love his site just thought this was over the top.
How does he make money from answering everyone on the forums? Yes he does make money off the site but I think It's pretty obvious that he enjoys helping people out. Besides he is still the most knowledgable and has the best instincts for these games than anyone else on the forum.
So kol hakavod Dan and ksiva vachasima tova to you and yours.

Do you say thank you to the bus driver when you get off the bus? Or to the store owner after you check out,?
I don't ride the bus. If the store owner lets me buy as many GC's as I want I sure do thank him.
I just found a new supply of forks!

Still a thank you to him I can now fly business class without paying, sleeping in 5 starr hotels tnx to him for free & so on!
I love these posts. So when you fly and stay in hotels there is no cost involved in acquiring the points? That is like a CB person saying when they fly and stay in hotels they make money.  ::)

I'd like to thank Dan for helping me be able to book my family of 6 to Israel this week for a cash cost of $450.

It's been my dream to do so since I started following ctownbochur sometime in 2005-2006.

Also thanks to Dan for helping me stay in Hotels and fly on many flights all over the world for the past 7 years with little or no out of pocket cost. It has changed my life. Really.

My kids have asked me why we always stay in Sheraton hotels, although I've branched out into other brands more recently.

Special mention for that time I had to fly jfk-lax same day when my brother was looking to spend $600 for a one way I booked on business class no problem. And the $25 delta tickets to lax as well.

Yes, this started as a hobby for Dan but I'm glad that today im able to help support the continuation of DansDeals. He's done for me much more than my using referral links does for him.

And finally...

Many people wish they were around for the mint coins but my back is still hurting from lugging those things around. And I broke a nice suitcase BC of those. Gift cards weigh far less. I'm happy to pay a little for the convenience. No limit on coins was sorta nice tho....

Thanks Dan for the way you respond to comments on the site. The speed, quantity and quality of your responses is astounding to me. Today's car rental insurance post is a particularly fine example.

You respond to us dolts with such class and skill, and it is much appreciated (CTLMS notwithstanding ;))

I light of today's fireworks, I'd like to resurrect this thread simply to affirm that I am very appreciative of Dan for giving me the skills and know-how to experience fairy-tale vacations that would otherwise be impossible.
While I don't take advantage of every deal, workaround, status-match or "hack" for one reason or another, I have enjoyed the fruits of his labor in some small capacity and for that I am thankful.

Furthermore, I've seen, in my travels, how those in power can severely abuse their position, especially in the face of a personal attack. Today, I witnessed Dan respond to a personal affront with dignity and a levelheadedness that rivals that of a Tibetan monk. I am truly, duly impressed.

I tip my hat to you, Dan.
