any experience at this point if cancelling a flight gets you back the aa miles?

The real answer is that you CAN cancel no problem by paying the cancellation fee ($150 first person, $25 each additional)

I had booked before this announcement came out.

Using that leverage mixed with a little HUCA just got me back all my miles and the cancellation fee waived.

Just called AA for the heck of it and after pleading for a little they were gonna let me change the LY flight. I have no need for a date change I just wanted to see if it was possible

Im glad they didn't offer that to me. I used the "I was able to change this ticket when it was booked, since I can't now, please just cancel without penalty".

One supervisor offered to rebook me for "free" on BA. Just have to pay difference in fees. On 6 tickets. LOL!

He didnt offer it to me, I requested it. I could if probably cancelled it but I figured a change was a bigger challenge and I like challenges
