I don't recall specifically, but I think have have used some of them for online purchases.

I believe there was an issue with the gift exchange last year because they processed all of their charges the next day (instead of before midnight), and so none of the SBS credits were automatically applied.

But we all got the credit eventually, and some of us got double dips...

There are organizations and select people that "key" it in or the GCR has a program from her CC processor that will "key"  in a whole list, but she seems to be afraid that it needs to be swiped..

I can't seem to find the fine print from last year's SBS, but based on the 2014 terms and conditions (https://icm.aexp-static.com/Internet/NGMS/US_en/Images/American_Express_2014_SBS_Card_Member_Offer_Terms.pdf), I don't see any indication that they are are excluding "key-in" transactions from the promotion. Keep in mind that a "key-in" transaction does not necessarily indicate to Amex that the purchase was not made in-person at the store, and merchants will often key-in a credit card number simply because the swipe didn't work properly.

Also a little wrinkle this year is that amex is requiring ssns to activate cards these days.  So the hopes of  adding every friend and relative and not having their ssn are gone.

I just added a few AUs and they didn't bother me about SS#s

Did you activate the cards yet.  When I tried to call in to activate the cards they all required an ssn.  These were business cards btw.

Haven't tried to activate them. But I don't think I've ever needed them activated to use them.

Sorry, but the chart does not mention (annual) fees when adding an au?
If there is no annual fee, there is no fee for adding an au as well???
