Was thinking along the same lines... This is her business; If she wants the money, she should decide if it's worth her investment - But to ask the customer to pay to be her customer sounds ludicrous...

There are more then enough places to take my business to, The Gift Card Registry is the simplest for me... but I ain't gonna pay for it!

 - besides for the fact that other places are accepting lists, so that I don't even have to wait on line, drive anywhere, or worry about it...

If you use 2 cards, you essentially have $60 to spend on the site. You can use it anyway you want. If you buy credit, you need to use that credit within 6 of our site.

they have to pay to rent another terminal if you want one not to wait in line then pay. i may be worth it.

ever went to an amusement park where you pay to cut the line.

think about how many transaction you plan on doing and then imagine waiting for 5 people in front of you to do the same.

I spoke to them you basically have to pick it up from their processing guy and it costs him a few to set it up on every device. If they do it for free everyone will take one and decide then if their doing it. So now he's charging a little bit and if you're serious about it and doing a lot of cards it'll be a drop in the bucket.

Alternatively they could say they give it out free if you have at least, say, 20 cards.

True. But I just realized that if it's a "Gift Card Registry" then it's the customers that will all be getting back their own gift cards... so, it's like a "self-serve swiper" but they'll make $100 an hour per machine if they charge $50 per register for 30 min.

And to answer your question, she's merely offering this.
She's trying to be accommodating. She already renting 20 or more iPads and card readers. Plus workers. Also making appointments and taking walkins.. She reached her limit and tons of people are still calling, so she offered this service for those that are interested.

I could understand the $50 as a deposit. If you spend $XX using it then you get the money back. Otherwise you lose it.
