Although this is a better title, maybe this thread should be merged with this other credit card fraud thread

That one is much longer and started first.

My 2nd time I'm experiencing this;

I reported an Amex card lost so they sent me a new one with a new number, I then charged the old card (which I reported lost) and the charge went through,
How come?

I canceled a card 2 yrs ago and got a bill in the mail for a charge on it. I disputed and won, but also, have no idea how that happens. Sometimes if it's a merchant that has charged in the past they can use a token, and have a right to continue to charge, but that's not whats happening.

That's not the case here, it was a regular purchase as any other purchase.

Ask the bank if there was a request for a new card,
Is your email on file? Usually when a new card I'd requested you'd get an email,
I once had (with Amex) that they sent me a new card for security purposes without me requesting it.

But multiple sounds suspicious.

My email is on file, never received email about it. In message center on my online account, it says Ive ordered them; their sending message for security purposes. What should I do??

Are the new cards chip-enabled vs the old ones?

Amex will allow a chanrge that went through before to go through again. They have a feature which I find neat, you can BLOCK certain merchants if you want.

I canceled/closed (permanent!) one of my cards (not an AU)  and a week later I attempted to use the card and it went through without any issues..  THIS IS INSANE!
The only way to prevent new charges from going through is by freezing the card.

The same applied when I activated the new card and still used the old with older expiration date
