u never know when the person on the phone is taking ur number down is doing just that. Old concern of mine. Btw which brings me to mention other possible weak spots like ss numbers...

It said on bottom that it was intended for *****@.com which is my correct email.
When I logged into my account there were no notifications or letters of any kind. I called Chase twice and they said they have nothing on their end, and that I should forward it to the fraud department.

Did I just get phished (though, the URL looks accurate

) or is this possibly the beginning of a Chase FR?

Yes one. But, it is a personal account, and the email clearly says business card account ...

~$,2000 in pending fraudulent charges on one of my cards. Issuer won’t bother investigating and this cr@p will keep happening. Meanwhile any companies that don’t flag these transactions as fraud end up footing the bill for goods/services provided.

- Multiple Walmart.com charges adding up to like $300, they took down a report but they don’t care.
- A single vipoutlet.com (Walmart subsidiary) order for $1600, they hung up on me twice...
- Some random water filter manufacturer based in California, several charges totaling ~$150.
- Netflix found the account ($20 charge, whatever that is) and cancelled it, wouldn’t give any info.
- Dropbox $1 hold, they have a tool to look up charges but you need the transaction ID from the cleared charge.

spoke to amex last week on the phone, and today i got this email:
Hello Shmuel
You contacted American Express about your Card on May 19, 2021 and spoke with xxxx xxxx,
etc etc
my name isnt shmuel and i dont have any au's on the accounts, is this suspect?

I've seen merged emails/letters where names get mismatched, hard to know for sure.

Maybe you have a neightbor/relative named Shmuel at the same address and some lines got crossed?

Someone opened an Ikea card in my name, i got an alert from Chase credit monitor.

I called Comenity Bank, and reported it. the charge was about $4k

So someone has my info, which is not too hard i guess with all the breaches, created some fake ID to go along with it.

Anything else i should do? i see some suggest reporting on www.identifytheft.gov

Keep your credit permanently frozen and only unfreeze when you need to apply for something.

Also consider putting a fraud alert on your credit file, though it could work against you when applying, where you’ll have to just through extra hoops to verify your identity when applying for credit.

Good idea, I think I'll start with the freeze and unfreeze when needed, and eventually hope they leave me alone. The fraud alert would make it that I cant get instant approvals.
