Good idea, I think I'll start with the freeze and unfreeze when needed, and eventually hope they leave me alone. The fraud alert would make it that I cant get instant approvals.

Experian wont let me set a freeze online for some reason, need to write to them

100%, remember to freeze all three bureaus.

It frustrates me to no end that more effort isn’t made to investigate such fraud, and if you report it at best it gets recorded and becomes a statistic.

I agree, they could get the security camera info at Ikea at the time of purchase and go after them. But they won't.

Experian is a shtikel problem, they won't allow a freeze online for me for some reason and they are the place where the inquiry was. I tried by phone an also no go. There is no person to talk to on the phone tree.

There’s more to it than that, a $4k purchase might have gotten delivered, there might be other avenues to investigate, with the intention to catch those who stole your identity info in the first place, as it’s possible they did the same for many others as well.

I called Chase credit journey, which is free to all cardholders and they partner with Experian they put the freeze in two minutes.

Don’t they have a specific freeze website? I’m pretty sure they’re legally obligated to allow you to free your credit.

They do, but there is some issue by me and they need more info mailed in. I cant get my credit report from them either. Only scammers have access.  :)

Pathetic. Even if you can find someone to talk to it’s likely an offshore human robot.

Part of the scam is that they try to change your address which isn't too hard, to get the credit cards mailed to them.
I got a mailer saying the address was trying to be changed, so I disputed the change.

What else is part of the scam?

That’s for an existing account, for a new account they just claim you moved.

That's not what happened in my case.

We noticed you haven’t used your IdentityTheft.gov account recently. We hope this means you have resolved the problems the identity theft caused.

If you do not log in to your account, it will be deleted in 15 days.

This makes no sense, gov't at its best

I'm not sure if this is the right thread, or maybe a dedicated thread should be created to identify fraudulent CC charges.

This one is weird (notice the name on top - looks very Jewish), small charge pending on one of my AMEX accounts:

Interesting that the info doesn't seem to match. Random name, Seattle address, and the phone number goes to a South Carolina business.

No. I didn't use the card recently. (Maxed out on PPBP before shutdown, left $1 available credit).
