Author Topic: Credit card fraud (Read 23097 times)

Was waiting for a new credit card to be mailed to me.... got email from chase fraud department that my new card was used in various local fast food stores and cvs.... and was even used to withdraw money from a atm.... chase declined the charges.
I haven't even received this new card yet. Where would someone get a hold of my new credit card? I even checked my security camera and no one opened up my mail box....
Any suggestions?

A friend of mine from Brooklyn recently opened a new bank account, and he was supposed to get a check book in the mail.
A few days later he gets a call from a local branch if he wrote a check of $1200 to Mr so and so, who is now in the branch to cash it, the teller was even holding his license, he said no he never even got the check book, they let the person go free, they said they are not allowed to do anything to such a person, he must report it himself to the police.

They're not allowed to do anything to a person trying to cash a stolen check ? Couldn't they at least hold him while your friend calls the police ?

DW was just hit with fraud charges on her Cap1 card she has not used in years. First one posted but they caught the rest. It seems she never received the new card they sent back in March.

My mailman is so bad, every day I get other peoples mail, even from different blocks. Makes me wonder (worry) how much of my mail is ending up in the wrong hands.

No need to be in Cleveland for this. My parent's mailman in BP always wishes us Good Shabbos. If there's a kiddush at the shul across the street, he comes in too for a piece of kugel and some cholent

It's kinda scary how much personal stuff that guy knows about everyone. If he decided to rob someone's house he knows just the night they'll be away making a chasuna.

my wife never lost her chase IB card, neither did my sister, I keep my wife's secure. my pc is fully protected still there was a FRAUD UNAUTHORIZED CHARGE of over $4000 at a place called " VILLAGE INN"
Chase shut down the card, credited the charge and sent me new card. That was 2 yrs ago. No other fraud charges on any of our accounts ever!

The other day recently, someone with "unknown" number called my wife's cell early morning with a female automated american english accent saying the IRS is gonna file lawsuit over some unpaid stuffs and asks her to call a number. The called didn't directly talked when I picked up and just played this automated scam call. If the scammer have talked to me, I would have played with that scammer

I heared it and I knew right away this was a scam call cos we have done nothing wrong with our taxes. Did a brief google search and this is a nation wide attempted scam call. They would have you settle the issue before being arrested and asks you to may a payment over the phone mostly with debit and reloadable card.

I had that call multiple times over the past few weeks. I called them back every time and kept them on the line for 10 minutes playing with them. Finally I told the guy, "I don't get it - is this how your mother raised you? She told you it's ok to steal?" So he says to me, "I live in Pakistan, I have no way of making money. I can make between $50-100,000 a year (!) doing this" I told him "I still think you're wrong. But from a purely business perspective, you're wasting your time calling me. It's not like one day I'll decide that you're legit and wire you some money. I know you're a scam, and you know that I know you're a scam, why are you wasting your time with me?" He says, "Ok, I'll take you off our list." Haven't heard from them since.
