I've used FSX a bit a while ago and then again recently, and I'm thinking of trying X-plane.
Just figured out Google Earth also has a built in flight simulator.
CTRL+ALT+A to enable it.

My planes keep crashing  :(

Use your mouse to fly.
That's what I'm doing, I still usually crash a few minutes after takeoff. Never even it even to LGA... I usually depart JFK, although I use SFO for FlightGear.

To fly an actual plane I'd suggest you take lessons first but a simulator you should be able to manage. Practice makes perfect...
