These guys for eg.

The continued pushing of the envelope to fa'goyish yiddishkeit so that we can be "just like them". משנאך ה אשנא...
It's seems you don't know what משנאך means, if you would you wouldn't be doing exactly that.

Interesting article
http://yairspitz.wordpress.com/the-shabbos-app/

Looks like the tried solving the issue of ממצוא חפצך ודבר דבר in the kickstarter.

Laughing at the modox trash behind this app use Yiddish and yeshivish terminology on shabbosapp.com to make them sound kosher. נזם זהב באף חזיר

Their tag line "Nisht Shver tzu zein a yid" is the epitome of sheker! Their whole concept is based on their belief that yiddishkeit is in essence a burden.

FYI, Rabbi Spitz is "modox".
Do you feel comfortable saying all those things to him as well?
Life isn't about checking the boxes. Nobody cares.

I just said that the app guys are a symptom of modern orthodoxy.
Not that all modern Orthodox are so left leaning and "modern" that not using phones on shabbos for them is "just backwards/ being machmir/ not forward thinking"

#the developers didn't learn in ponevitz...

For further explanation of what is broken in the system that led to this app see:

Quote
and something else: too many teenagers have absolutely no concept of “Bigdei Shabbat” – the obligation to wear special clothing on Shabbat. I am not even referring to wearing ties and jackets, although that is clearly perceived as dignified dress in America. Many teens come to shul dressed in weekday clothing but even on the lower end of what might be called “school casual.” How do parents not impress on their children from their earliest youth with the idea of “Shabbat clothing?” That is part of what makes Shabbat different.Every child – girl or boy – should have clothing specially designated for Shabbat, ideally a jacket and tie for boys and a nice dress for girls. At age five, I put on a suit and tie for Shabbat, and never looked back. How are children allowed to leave the house on Shabbat as if it is a Sunday – whether it is to attend shul in the morning or meet their friends in the afternoon?

Are we then surprised when Shabbat for them becomes “not Shabbat”? Their whole experience of Shabbat is being told what they can’t do, incarcerated for two hours in the morning in a place where they don’t want to be, to then eat a meal that might be devoid of spiritual substance, the day salvaged only when they meet their friends who have had similar experiences. But if Shabbat is not a different day, then apparently the moment the child gains his independence, or a moment or two after that, his Shabbat becomes Saturday, which, combined with Sunday and Friday night, makes for a long, fun and enjoyable weekend. The fifteen year old who walks around the streets Shabbat afternoon in shorts and sneakers will likely not be observing Shabbat when he is twenty. But no one will make the connection then – so make it now......

"For many reasons we have decided to cancel the Kickstarter campaign, however, the most outstanding reason was because people believed this was just a joke.

We're happy to say that the Shabbos App is not a hoax and it will be released (full working version) on Dec 1 on Google Play. Baruch HaShem, there has been a tremendous response, both positive and negative, enough for us to see that there is a big demand for our app. So, we're going to build it first, provide the haskomas for people to see and then people can buy it."

Hi,

I'm with the Shabbos App team. If you contributed on Kickstarter, you would have gotten your pledge canceled and therefore your credit card would not be charged. You should have received an email from us letting you instruction how to get the app for free, if you did not please contact me.

I'm just wondering, not wanting to get myself into a full discussion of Halacha and hashkafa with you or anyone else (and it has already been discussed, with no apparent outcome either way, and i already have my own personal feelings and leanings about the matter), if you in good conscience, would use the shabbos app on shabbos, or maybe you are just doing it for money or other ulterior motives?

Everyone on our team uses the shabbos app currently. It works, but has a lot of glitches and bugs, but we do message each other good Shabbos wishes etc. We would never develop a product we ourselves would not use. That's like a mashgiach who wont eat his own hechsher.

So what is your response to many respectable members here that are appalled at what you are trying to do?

Why is it that I have yet to see the name of one reputable Rov who says this is even feasible?
