Domestic flight tom morning and my wife's ticket is in her married name and all her ID's are in her maiden name. It's a BA award ticket on AA. Can I change it for free? Will a marriage license get her through security?
I had this with delta called them b4 they said to bring the marriage license but nobody--delta or security-- asked for it

Either way you are better off bringing it...

That's pretty much what happened to me. No one noticed a difference!

By me they actually checked the marriage certificate but was no issue. For an international flight.

i'm seeing this thread now and just thought i'll add my experience as a point of reference. my mother had a ticket mix-up. lets say her name is Sara Rivka Lastname. her legal name is Sara R Lastname. her ticket said Rivka Lastname. we had no problem at all. also a point of reference, she traveled within the US with just her green card.

Sometimes it's the obvious that needs to be stated the most

YMMV

In LGA security made an issue where the name on the ID was Sarah (maybe Sara, dont remember exactly), and the ticket said Sorah. Almost missed the flight going back to checkin.

My sister has a ticket that says linsday instead of lindsay, hoping no one bothers to read it. Is it annoying to have United change it? Maybe I'll just call them for her

So, I called AA and they said that it was not an issue at all. Really no reason to do anything, and they couldnt change the ticket. But if I wanted , in the info that gets forwarded to TSA (?) they would change it to Mr. Just to be safe I also called BA. They said that they would submit the correction, could take 24 hrs. (the return flight was in 23 hrs, but she said it would be Ok.

On the return, since we had PA, we lined up to board right away, and yocheved'd ticket buzzed, and the screen said somethig like 'not allowed to board'.

Yikes.

Luckily there was a really nice Admiral Lounge agent nearby, who offered to look into it. Seems like when BA changed the ticket, they didnt properly reissue it. She researched the ticket #, and from there they were able to get Yocheved a seat. I didnt have much faith in the regular gate agent. He looked like the type that would tell me to call BA and have them straighten it out (and miss my flight).
