Then apparently the answer is yes.

Thanks  ;)

Just wanted to make sure it wasn't a case of DROPR.

Weird thing happen to me last night. I was biking a reservation for PH NYC, and there were 3 options for payment, 30k points, c+p, and then free night promotional award.
What I don't understand is that I already used my 2 free sign up nights, and then when I tried completing the ressy, I got an error that I need to call Hyatt to view, or modify the ressy.
Life is as good as you make it...

Because there are no blackout dates for awards/free nights, do people here ever just make revenue reservations to hold the room so they don't get sold out until they have the points/certs in their account? Any reason that I shouldn't do this? Rep on the phone guaranteed me that I won't have any issues converting it from revenue to points at a later date.

If you have Diamond, they will hold the room for you as a points booking if you tell them the points are in the midst of being transferred. If you're not Diamond, you could try that. Not sure if they can actually convert it to a points booking, but also make sure you're holding the correct room type (standard) and watch out for cancellation policies.

But in my case, the certs aren't in the middle of being transferred. They're still about a month or two away. Ya, I would hold a standard room. I guess technically they would release it and immediately pick it back up as a points reservation and because there are no blackout dates, it would be available in inventory for points booking. Only downside is that they sometimes require a deposit, but as long as you don't mind temporarily paying it, don't see the downside.

While there are no blackout dates, hotels have plenty of shticky things to do to keep rooms from being bookable with points. Not sure if they released it it would go into points inventory. If you're Diamond, try getting them to hold it. When I've done it, they never gave me a deadline for how long the hold will last.

Ah so then I'm gonna try to get them to hold it. From your last post it seemed like it was a short hold until points post. Thanks.

And do hyatt points expire?

Where were you when I needed you

So why wouldn't the diamond line give me the upgrade on the cash and points?

I think they need to be used before the exp date, however if you book now then they will sometimes extend 30 days past the expiration date

Damn. I knew it was a case of DROPR but wanted confirmation before I continued to HUCA. Each rep that I got told me the same thing. So all they had to do was try to apply the cert to the reservation?
